You need a good chiropractor. Come see me, I'm in Irving! :)
I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, but my right is by far my worst. I get the tingling, numbness, and the agonizing throbbing/aching at night in my hands. It's so bad, it wakes me up several times. My hands go numb while I'm driving, they ache when I write, and they will also go numb while I'm holding the phone to talk. Anyone ever have this? I'm needing info about treatment options, and a good doctor in the area if you know of one. Thank you so much!

I am a Physical Therapist. Although I don't practice in a setting where I treat carpal tunnel, I do know a little about it. Obviously, rest is the best thing but is sounds like that is not an option for you. Depending on what type of work you do you may need to reposition your workstation so it is ergonomically correct. Also if you are getting the tingiling sensations when you drive check your hand position. The 10 and 2 positions are more likely to compress the carpal tunnel. try sliding your hands down to 9 and 3. All of the things that you describe causing tingiling/ numbness your probably do with your wrist bent. Try to be aware of your hand position at all times and avoid prolonged flexion (bending down).
As far as treatment is concerned physical therapy can alleviate or lessen the symptoms of carpal tunnel. A PT can also help you set up your computer, desk, etc . . . in a way that relieves pressure on the carpal tunnel. They can also teach you exercises to alleivate the pain and ways to decrease the swelling in the carpal tunnel. Surgery is also an option but I have heard mixed results. Please be sure you research it thorughly before you decide on surgery. Sorry if I'm repeating any information you already have. I don't have time to check this site regularly. Hope this helps

Hi K.!
It would be great to see a chiropractor, who can offer conservative advice/treatment regarding carpal tunnel. If you let me know what area you are in, I can recommend some different chiros.
Hope this helps!

I had it during my first pregnancy and about 3 months post partum due to strain and swelling... I am praying I don't get it this pregnancy. It was so bad, I couldn't get up out of bed, pick up or bathe my newborn... even changing and feeding him was painful.
My Dr. told me there is a simple outpatient surgery they can do if the problem didn't finally clear up. In the meantime, wearing wristbraces (or ace bandages tightly wrapped), keeping your wrists level and straight when you type or do anything else can help. Also, accumpuncture can help.
(The reason why it's worse at night is b/c throughout the day, fluids accumulate in your hands due to gravity.)
There are also steriod shots that work (however the shot can be very painful on there own).
For the numbness, my pregnancy book recommends to hang your arms beside you and shake them "vigorously", and also to sleep with your hands elevated. Avoid caffine and tobacco, as they can bring it on.
Oh, K.. I feel for you. I am going through the EXACT same symptoms at this time. I am going to an amazing orthopedist named John Drkulec (Canadian). I have already seen the neurologist for nerve testing to confirm carpal tunnel. I am opting for the surgical remedy as opposed to trying the steroid injections. We initially tried the splinting (23 hours a day) and Aleve combo. Some relief, but certainly not enough. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions at all. ____@____.com.
I wish you all the best. J. Keetch
