Stabbing pain on the right side, no fever, and nausea are the symptoms being experienced. Did the symptom checker on WebMD...Appendicitis is the first thing that popped up. It contradicts itself concerning treatment. In one area it says wait four hours and then go to the ER if pain persists, but in another it says it is a medical emergency and to go to the ER ASAP. Do we wait the four hours or not?

Update: We are in the ER now and they think it is her appendix.
After a CT Scan they say her appendix looks normal. They said this is from dehydration & constipation.
Why not go and be done with it? It's getting later and later and storms are still around in a lot of Kansas. If it is Appendicitis and they go into surgery you're going to want this done sooner than later.

You do NOT have to have a fever, or even stabbing pain, with appendicitis! My child had it with no fever up until shortly before they removed it (after a day of issues). She only vomited ONCE the entire time. And she had fairly minimal pain until about an hour before it was removed. The docs did MR! and ultrasound and still weren't sure it was appendicitis but the surgeon felt certain it was -- and he was right. The appendix was not even very swollen, which is why the ultrasound and MRI kind of fooled them. So, moms reading this -- do NOT go by the idea that you must have intense pain, fever or a lot of vomiting for it to be appendicitis!

When I thought that I might have it, I called the ER and talked to the ER nurse. She asked me to jump up and down on one foot and asked me if it about killed me. I told her no, and she said that I probably didn't have appendicitis. She directed me to Urgent Care, so I went there. The doctor told me that he thought I had a cyst on my ovary, gave me a shot of some sort, and told me to get an ultrasound appointment with my gyn. I did that, and he was RIGHT. I DID have an ovarian cyst that eventually had to be removed surgically.
I'm not a doctor or a nurse, just telling you my experience long ago. However, I do think it would help for you to call the ER and ask to talk to perhaps a doctor or a PA.

I had appendicitis and after blood draws, ultra sound and ct they were still saying they thought it was a cyst. The ER doctor didn't believe any of the test results and went in to look anyway and had to remove my appendix. I was very, very ill for 3 days. I did not have a fever but I did throw up every few hours. I thought I had food poisoning and didn't even consult a doctor for 2 days. The third day I couldn't even lift my right foot to get my underwear on.
