Anyone Else up Watching the Weather?

I am sitting her trying to stay awake watching Rick Mitchell and am following these horrid storms. The wind keeps making my house shake too. I am a silly mess. The grand kids went to bed dressed and have their shoes on.

The state has been hit and hit today with multiple long term tornadoes. Woodward has been hit multiple times and they were not able to get the sirens to sound on time due to damage from the tornadoes that hit before. I am so concerned for that area of my state.

I seriously hate storms. I wish I could figure out a way to live in a safer situation. We live in a mobile home and do leave if the winds are expected to be over 60mph but we have had over 100mph and withstood them okay. I know we are most likely safe but I am a worrier. I worry about all the what ifs.

The whole state of Oklahoma is going to be impacted by this storm, we knew it was coming due to the Tor Con (Tornado Condition) index they have developed in the past few years.

Anyway, I feel all alone and am sitting here stressing waiting to leave and go to shelter when the storms get closer. It won't be long now though. I have blankets, pull ups, warmer clothes, extra socks, etc...plus a couple of cans of Spaghetti O's, a can opener, some paper plates, plus some PB and bread in a backpack to carry along. The kids helped pick out the stuff and it is all by the door. We are ready and just in a waiting period.

What can I do next?

I grow up in Iowa and still have tons of family there. Just got done looking at the news on line with whats going on in the mid-west and wondering how my family and friends are doing with the current weather conditions.

Wishing you and your family a safe night. Hope everything will pass and you can get some rest.

Take care and stay safe
Tina

I am in Iowa and am not concerned for myself - we have a basement, but my granddaughter is with her dad (his weekend) in another portion of the state this weekend. He has no common sense.
My MIL and BIL are neighbors had a tornado visible from their home.
The town of Creston which had their hospital hit is the area I grew up in. I am so concerned for friends and family there.
Basically, just waiting for daylight now. To see the news stories, to catch up with the rest of the family and friends, and to check for damage to our property.
My DH was on vacation last week. All we did was work on the property getting it really cleaned up. Past owners had really trashed the place.
We have two acres of trees. I am expecting a new mess!
We have had non-stop thunderstorms since yesterday afternoon. I am doing my best to console my pug, who is storm phobic, so that my DH can get some sleep.

I was up until 1:15am or so watching the weather! It never got really bad in Omaha, just a lot of rain, but they kept saying sleep in your basement. I did pull out supplies and put them downstairs, but never thought about having shoes on in case of a disaster. That makes so much sense! Duh! If anything I have learned what to have on hand in case of emergency. It's times like these that I am grateful for blizzards. All you do is stock the kitchen with the necessities and snuggle with family!
Hope all is well today and you manage to get some rest!

My husband stayed up watching because I went out to see Cabin in the Woods with a friend and he was afraid of the weather. Thank goodness it all missed us, but it hit Wichita really hard and we have a lot of family down there.
