Anyone Else Having a Bad Week?

This has been the week that I never want to repeat please. Took my husband to Urgent Care he ended up having a very bad sprain in his foot, much better than the fracture and bone density loss that was the original diagnosis. My husband is out of commission for 3 -4 weeks, it is hard to keep an active person down. He was scheduled to run a 50k trail race this weekend, needless to say he has not been happy.
Oh yeah, at 4 am Monday morning walking down the hallway my husbands sees something small. Apparently our cat had a kitten and it has been in my house for 4-6 weeks is our best guess. How did we not know this. We have several cats and only 2 were not fixed and they are never let outdoors. Um...still trying to figure out how this one escaped our notice. He (my son looked into its eyes and said it was a boy) has been living in the back of my daughter's closet. I am guessing all of those mornings when she was in her room playing while I was getting ready (she is 16 months) and she was yelling "Dat" that she wasn't always talking about the big cats. It likes her, goes right up to her and she picks it up by its head. Trying to stop her is hard as it lives in her room, it isn't like I can keep her out of her own room.
Tuesday night I found a lump on my 9 year old dogs stomach. Wednesday we called and scheduled her an appointment to see the vet on Thursday. Wednesday night I had to carry her up the stairs, that had never happened before. Thursday morning she didn't wake up. That was fast. No prior symptoms, even looking back there was none. She was a major part of our lives. We are having a hard time adjusting to this. It was so sudden.
Please cheer me up and give me some uplifting animal stories. What are your cute/funny/uplifting stories related to your pets?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your support and your stories. Having other people understand life's little challenges makes life a little easier. Betsy was a great dog, one of the family. My son is doing better than expected with it, but we have kept him busy and out of the house as much a possible the last few days and I am not sure that it has completely set in yet. . We lost another dog 2 years ago and he still talks about her, so I don't think this has hit home yet. Going through pictures last night I rarely found a picture of my son that Betsy was not in, so her absence will be noticed.
My husband is thankful for only having a sprain. It was a bad week, because the girl who originally read the x-ray report got it all wrong. Right down to severe bone density loss, someone with my husbands lifestyle having bone density loss would not have an easy simple cause. We were worried until they were able to get him in with his regular doctor and get a MRI scheduled. His doctor gave his strict directions of what he could and could not do for the next few weeks and he doesn't want to draw this out any longer than necessary, so he will follow directions ~ elevate, ice, wrap, ibuprofen and a list of don'ts: no running, no biking, no zip lining, etc...
Carrie P ~ my heart goes out to you and everything you are going through it is not fair at all. I can offer my prayers and I really wish that I could do more. I will be thinking about you. I hope things turn around for you soon and you find some helpful people that are not on power trips.
Anabel ~ I am sorry that you lost your cat, but having more does not lessen the grief when you lose one. It still hurts regardless. Actually I am changing this after reading all of your responses today. It seems you are just in a spiteful mood today and need to get a life.
Oh yes, my son has declared the kitten a boy (he looked into his eyes) and named him Henry (after himself), personally I like bonus : )
Now I am going to go check on my daughter, she decided today was a good day to run a fever : (

The best thing I can say is that I believe that our pets will be in heaven waiting for us. I know a lot of people do not believe it. But I am a big fan of reading near death experiences and there are so many events that happen while people are dead that are so similar and even EXACT same experiences to think that it can be a coincidence. People have come back from heaven and talked about their pets being there and other animals as well.

I hope your husband feels better soon. He'll have to rest as much as possible. But don't let him stay off of it too much either. Sprains can stiffen up to the point of causing problems for a long time into the future. When the swelling goes down it's time to carefully and slowly roll the ankle and loosen up the kinks. Have him try different braces and or tape it so that he can move around some too. :)

My cats are crazy lol. My youngest thinks she is a dog and actually growls when she hears something outside. My other one rough houses with me. He gets down in a pouncing position, I blow at him or very lightly paw at him and he lunges at me. I wasn't quick enough one time and he got me good in the face, I just laughed. I was like Aww damn, you got me. He used to climb up my jean pants (with me in them lol) but now his claws hurt me. They chase each other around the house. I CAN NOT leave a plastic bag anywhere in the house because at 2am one of them will think it is the toy of the hour and play with it til I come throw it away haha. My cats paw at my food very lightly. My oldest cat (only out of 2 cats) gently places his paw on my hand and rubs his paw against my hand to tell me he wants me to pet him. Ah, I love them hehe.

I'm sorry for your loss and send you a ton of long distance hugs <3

Lol Julia, my youngest cat does that to my daughter, if she pulls on her tail or tries to squish her by using her as a pillow (which is rare, but still) she swats her with claws in.

I have got to say that I have had the week of bad dreams. I lost my house because they would not qualify me to get restructure. After I filed bankruptcy I got a letter that said that if I sent them two paycheck stubs then they can restructure my loan. Go figure!! I have been packing up all this stuff by myself. It is amazing what we can acquire after 16 years. I went to my meeting of the creditors and I had to get the meanest trustee on the powertrip that there is. He had to go over my financial status with a fine tooth comb. I drive a 94 Buick and he acted like I drive a Bentley!! I was so scared and he was so mean to me. He even sent me home with homework. The man who prepared my papers had to fill out an amendment that explains step by step what I own. I can explain that very easily NEXT TO NOTHING!! I have two kids at home still along with a girl in college and I am looking to move into an apartment and he wants to make sure I am living on the streets. I cried!!!! I can live in my car but I can't make my boys do that. It is so unfair. Our legal system makes no rhyme or reason sometimes. This is my life.......

On a happier note, I used to have a persian kitty and she was so prissy and took a bath constantly. She had in the bedroom a lot so she could just be by herself. It was always so funny that she would be so mild and mellow until the flashlight came out and then she would turn into a crazy maniac. She was so funny to watch tearing around like a little racecar. Her whole demeanor would change and her back would arch and her eyes for wide open.

I am sorry you are having a horrible week. Never good, I am right there with you. For different reasons but still there no less. Went to yet another doctor for chronic widespread pain, (had it for over 12 years) and got yet again more tests done, but the doctor informed me there was nothing she can do and to suck it up. Nice huh? Hate doctors.

I am so sorry for your loss :( It is hard when you lose a pet you love so much.

And I hope your hubby takes it easy and doesnt try to do too much and make his ankle worse. Hope a speedy recovery is in store for him.

But, I have two cats, they are age 2 and 3. They are so crazy! They chase each other around all day long. My son also 16 months loves to chase them around, but they dont mind, he bats his little hands at them, and they bat right back. Without claws of course! But it is too funny to watch, and to hear my son's excited belly laugh when they play. Adorable.

Hope your week gets better, and that maybe this weekend can be a resting time for you and your family.

Best wishes!

I am sending you a very big ((hug)). Wow.
First off, I'm very sorry about the loss of your family member (that's what our animals are). She died at home with a loving family around her. You didn't have to make that decision that you would have had to make on Thursday. Your daughter is too young to ask all those questions about death that you really don't want have to answer right now. Not sure how old your son is, and I hope that discussion went well.
Your husband will heal and the diagnosis wasn't as bad as originally thought. Maybe you all will get a little extra family time out of this.
You now have a bonus kitty cat that your daughter loves. I suggest naming the kitty, "Bonus." :)

My mother was a dog breeder and became ill with terminal lung cancer. I moved home to care for her and tried my best to take care of her and all the dogs (I don't know how she did it!). We came across our own "Bonus" one day. So, I giggled a little when I read that part.

I am wishing you a wonderful weekend. You deserve it, my dear.

I have a Siamese and he often plays "Derby Cat"
We have all wood flooring, and he will just be laying down and then just zoom, hes off! He slides everywhere, and even broke a pot that was sitting in a doorway trying to slide into another room.
He's my baby though, wouldn't trace him for the world.
I am very sorry for your loss, I can't imagine how my life would be now without my baby Jimmy.

I went thru hell week two weeks ago. Grandson in hospital with newly diagnosed diabetes. Two days in ICU. Had the little ones for the week
while this was going on. In the middle I was sick with a central line infection, then my friend called (she lived with me after a dx of cancer) her
son did not wake up in the morning. Passed away. So I know how you
feel.

If you go to petloss.com you can do a tribute to your beloved dog. My Callie
passed away almost three years ago. I still go to it, read it and cry. It will
be on there forever. I miss her so much, but the tribute does make me smile (after the tears). I am so sorry for your loss.
