Anyone Else? Fractured S-3. - Jefferson City,MO

So I broke my back at a military school in September 2012. Non-displaced fracture of the S-3 vertebrae. No surgery required.

It didn't bother me too badly. Yes, it ached, but it wasn't awful.

But I'm still having issues. It feels itchy and tingly sometimes. And right now it aches. On Wednesday I had an MRI, thinking that something's not right if it's still hurting. They said "all we see is the old fracture."

So what's the deally, yo? I'm calling my doctor next week for a referral to neuro...but I just thought I'd ask if anyone else here has experienced something similar?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had a broken odontoid (between C1 & C2) for almost 11 yrs...broke when I was 18 months but didn't show up until I had a shoulder XRay by a chiropractor when I was almost 12.) So, it was found by accident!

I NEVER had one issue to indicate anything was wrong! Once the injury was discovered, I had major surgery, a bone graft, time off school, etc, only to have it all redone when I was 16 because it was done wrong....again, I had no signs of anything being wrong!

So, I would say if you are having physical signs, definitely get a 2nd opinion by a specialist! They may see something that the other docs aren't seeing.

Best of luck w/ this...I am now 41 and am having all kinds of issues...arthritis, scoliosis, chronic pain. I have had 2 bone grafts (hip and ribs) and have 6 wires in my neck (I also have a rod in my leg from a totally separate injury when I was 25.)

Anyway, if you saw me, you'd never know I had all this stuf going on, but it still sucks! LOL! I hope you can find some relief and some answers! Take care of yourself and keep us posted.

sounds like you need to find a chiropractor. I have hurniated dics in my lower back and that's the only thing that gives me comfort. That and my ice pack.

Sometimes it is just the way it is. Had back surgery. Still many many days, I am a hurting puppy. Sometimes you just have to accept it. Get a second opinion, it don't get your hopes up that it can be fixed.

Ouch, C.!!

The tip of your tail bone broke?!! Yeah, it should not be hurting after over six months....when they say they "see" the old fracture - are they saying it's STILL fractured?! If so - how can they fix it? Do they have a probably solution to fixing it?

I know my ex-husband had neck issues (C3 or 4) while AD, they ended up doing a neck surgery on him and going through the throat and fixed it. i wasn't married to him, but our daughter kept me updated on his prognosis, etc.

With your wedding coming up. I would wonder what the healing time would be for a procedure, benefits, etc. Since you are young, i would say it SHOULD have been healed by now. Do you use the "donut" cushion to sit on to relieve back pain?

Wish I could help!
