Anyone Done a Time Share Vacation??

yes we go all the time so go ahead and go and enjoy just don;t let them talk you in to buying just say NO

I haven't had any experience with that particular company but I use to work for Bluegreen (same kind of company) and they were legit. The share tours were always longer than the 90 minuted though especially if you show even the slightest bit of interest in what they are saying because they think they can sell it to you so they spend more time. Hope it works out for you, it could be alot of fun

I haven't done anything like this myself but my mom has. they have done it a couple of times. once they got a 2 night stay up in boyne city michigan for going up there and sitting through a presentation and then they just did something over the phone like what your explaining to sit through a 90 minute presentation and then get a few nights stay from different choices and i think they are going somewhere in tennessee. i just attended a bridal show and someone called me to come to something today and get a 7night 8 day stay at one of 18 destinations but they weren't really clear on the stipulations. i asked if we had to sit through something like that and they said no just come so we can explain your package but i also know nothing comes for free so i'll have to wait and see. i'm sure yours is legit and as long as you can afford that 109.00 and whatever other expenses it's going to cost you to get there then i say go for it. myself i don't have money to pay for like airfare or gas going somewhere far away for free or low costs rooms and also have to pay for food and whatnot, but ours is good for a year and by this time next year we'll be taking our honeymoon anyways so i'm hoping ours works out and i'm sure yours will too.

If you go, be prepared to say no! They are very, very pushy; don't be afraid to just get up and walk out.

It's a seriously bad financial move. I understand one other poster said her parents enjoy their time share - enjoying the time share is one thing; paying for it is another.

I know people who have loved them and others who hated them. The one I hear the best things about is the Disney Vacation club. We have several friends that have joined it, and we are thinking about it too. It is basically a time share, and you can go to any of Disney's resorts which are not all Disneyish if you and your husband want to get away for a romantic trip alone. They have trips from going to the amusement parks to an African safari. It looks like fun to me, and me being a big numbers person, really calculated out that this would be saving us money over us just going to DisneyWorld or other vacations. :)

I actually own the same timeshare at Wydham. We have had it for 6 years and have only used it twice. If you are able to use it on a regular basis, they are worth it. I have three kids under the age of five and we do not have the time to go right now and are actually in the process of selling ours. Do not pay over 14-18 thousand for it. We are only going to get back 18-22k when we sell. Ours is in Orlando and should be a goodone. The only other thing that I don't like is that you end of paying so much in taxes (that go up every year - a lot) and maintenance fees. By the time it is said and done, how much are you really saving? Like I said, if you can use the getaway weeks, etc., it will probably be worth it. If not, I say bag it! If you do, you can buy ours!!!!

I don't know about this particular group but my parents own timeshares through Hyatt and Interval International and we really enjoy our vacations through them. They have them on opposite years and we have been to Sedona, AZ and are going back to Cave Creek, Az this year. They have also been to Hawaii, Texas, Florida and many other states for their timeshare.
As far as the 90 minute sales pitch...? I'm not sure that will be painless ;) But if you are considering a timeshare itself, my parents feel it was well worth the money.

I personally have never done it but i have a family member who has and didnt really like it.

We have been to a couple of them, the vacations are nice but the 90 minutes turns into forever and most of the time they do not like to just except no for an answer the keep presuring you and then they have to go get another person and then you have to talk to them forever. I am not trying to change your mind to wether to go or not just be firm and tell them no if you are not interested and tell them that their 90 minutes is up and you have to go.

If Im not mistaken, Wyndham is in Vegas, right? Keep in mind that Mr. Wynn is a billionaire who owns many of the Vegas resorts...he didn't get there by giving anything away! That said, you certainly got a good deal for a little getaway to hear their info IF the deal includes airfare. I would take the trip but when it comes down to signing up for the actual time share, give a firm NO (or several firm NO's). A typical trip to Vegas usually costs less than $300 per person anyway. My hubby and I go at least every year and we've never paid more than that for up to 5 days, airfare included and staying in a nice hotel! Timeshare's might be a good deal, but not in Vegas. You'll end up spending more per month than an entire trip would cost.

We did the sit through while in Orlando one time. For us it was totally worth the 90 minutes, they gave us $100, free breakfast and a free ride to what ever park we were going to. My folks declined the talk and ended up spending an hour on the hotel shuttle going from place to place until they got to the park they wanted.
Some warnings though: talks are not kid friendly, however, kids are a great excuse to get yourself out of there quicker. They do the talk, and then you say no, so they make a different offer, and you say no, and then they bring a manager, and you say no, and he gives you an offer and then you say no again, and then they give you your money and you can go home. We would actually do it again for the free stuff.
We didn't buy into one for several reasons: We don't always vacation like that. For example, sometimes we go camping, or sometimes we want to stay in one city one day and then go somewhere else the next night (like if we are driving somewhere long distance. And some years our vacation time is just spent with family or friends, and not at a resort.
However, my Husbands Grandma has a time share and it is open to the family to use. That has been perfect. The time gets used up every year, since its not just one family trying to get their moneys worth.
So I would see if parents or grandparents would split it with you. Otherwise i'm sure you newlyweds have other debt to pay off. Because this is a luxury way of traveling.

My parents got roped into doing one of these things. Some of them are really great and legit. Others, not so much. One of the ones that my parents did they not only sat in on the 90 minute seminar, but then they got hounded the rest of their vacation. They also, when they booked their trip, the time share company actually got hold of some of their credit information. Not very cool. They were able to get it corrected, but it was a hassle. Maybe try going to a travel agency and seeing about the company that you went through for the time share vacation. Or check online with the better business bureau.
