We are headed back to our permanent home in Columbus and I am looking for a permanent position (NICU RN) and I think it will be @ OSU, so that means I will have to deliver my baby @ OSU and I don't know of anyone who has delivered there. I work at Grant and had a wonderful experience delivering there and am kind of sad, but nothing is for sure right now, I just know with the OSU medical insurance I have to go there. Also are there any OSU medical center employees out there?? Would love to know how you like it?? I am thinking of this group of midwives/OBs *Professionals for Womens Health* anyone use them before?

Thanks so much for any comments and for reading!
M.

I both work at OSU and delivered my son there 16 months ago. There is a "pull out" chair in your room for your support person (the same kind they have at Mt. Carmel East where my sister delivered). Overall, I was very impressed with the facilities and the staff, especially given that I was induced unexpectedly at 35 weeks and was pretty emotional. I was visited by two lactation consultants there during my brief stay, and one of them specialized in nursing issues for preemies (they were both phenomenal resources). I go to the faculty OB/GYN practice in the hospital's clinic and was very pleased with the care I received there.

I haven't delivered at OSU but I go to Professionals for Womens Health and love it. My faves are Carol O'Conner (she delivered my now 18 month old) and Tiffany Murphy. They are both midwives.

I would highly recommend the group. I've seen quite a few docs there as well and have had great experiences with all of them.

Good Luck

I actually work in the NICU at OSU and delivered there last year. My experience was great. If you have any questions for me, let me know and I will send you my email address!

Delivered at OSU almost 4 years ago - everything was fine. I don't have much to compare to, but was impressed with the new facilities (then). The suite could definitely accommodate a spouse. My ob was with Kingsdale gynecological associates, and both she and the other doc (who came after my ob's shift was over) were very respectful of my wishes. (I left that practice since having my baby bc they have waaay too many patients and it takes forever to get in for an annual checkup, but pregnant patients are their priority and they work very well with them, I was very happy).
The only unpleasant thing about delivering at OSU was that one nurse gave my baby a bottle without letting me know. My daughter was almost 10 lbs and they are concerned with potentially rapid weight loss...Still, I would have liked to be asked. However it was another nurse who mentioned this to me, so I know it wasn't so much a policy as a personal choice, and that you probably can run into anywhere you go...Overall I had a very good experience delivering at OSU.

I have a co-worker that just delivered there. It doesn't sound like they are set up for a spouse or someone to stay with you. That was the only complaint i heard. Everything went smoothly and they were admitted Thursday night, at home Saturday.

No OSU experience, but I went to Prof. for Women's Health for my 2nd pregnancy and really loved it there. Carol O'Connar delivered this baby and she was AWESOME. Really appreciated her and her support of our all-natural birth!
Most of the midwives were pretty good, though.

Congrats and best wishes!
