Looking to plan our summer vacation and was wondering if anyone has been to the outer banks area of North Carolina. If so, is Nags Head the best area to stay? We want to rent a house on or near the ocean. Thanks for any input any of you might have.

I went there when I was younger and I thought that the place we stayed was the nicest- Okracoke Island (Not sure of the spelling!) Nagshead had a lot of jellyfish but that probably matters more on the time that we were there than the location.
We vacationed in Duck on the Outer Banks two summers ago and LOVED it. Duck is a smaller town but it does have some nice shops and a few resturants. I think there is more to do in Nags Head in terms of entertainment but it's not a long drive. We rented our house through vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) and had a gorgeous house with a pool one house back from the beach.
Loved the outer banks! Everything is relatively close so even if you are in Nags Head you can drive to the other little towns.
We're going to the Outer Banks next month. My brother rents a house on the ocean that has tons of bedrooms so my dad and our family got to go last year too. We were around the Kitty Hawk area and it was great! We did have the same problem last year with the jellyfish. I got stung one day and stayed out of the deeper water after that. There were days that you could just see them all over the place (on the beach washed up too).
