Anyone Been Pregnant on a Cruise?

Some info to know before you book your cruise...they don't allow pregnancy on the boat past 27-28 weeks depending on the cruiseline, so be sure to check that out! We moved up our normal vacationing time because of this. But it was an awesome vacation! I look forward to hearing from you!

I also went on a cruise a little over 6 months pregnant. I wasn't supposed to at that stage, but my doctor was fine with it and sent a prescription for a specific motion sickness medication that I never used. (It wasn't dramamine, but something else I think she felt was safer) I took my records along with me just in case as well.
I am now a travel agent and would never advise a client to do that, but I'd cruised before and was comfortable with the risk. We had an awesome time! It was so relaxing to reconnect before the craziness of a newborn and now that we haven't had a vacation since then, it's fun to look back at the picture.

Hi! I have never been pregnant on a cruise, but I know they have limits as to how far along you can be when you cruise. I would definitely check with my cruiseline; I think the cut-off may be something like 24 or 28 weeks. Good Luck!

I went when I was 4 months pregnant. It was wonderful. And I saved a lot of money that I would have spent on drinks. I went on all the excursions (but you can't swim with dolphins or off road jeep tours).
I asked the doc and he said that I could take dramamine and all the other stomach stuff, so no problems there.

I have been on several crusies and one while I was pregnant. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I do know that the crusie lines have changed their rules lately and will not let you do a cruise after you are 25 (?) weeks...you would want to check with them directly.

How far along are you? I did not go on a cruise, but I did go to Jamaica at 35 weeks. I knew that if there were any complications, that the Jamaican hospital, doctors and blood options were only the ones that they had available. Something to think about.

I took in to consideration my stress at work and decded it was a greater risk to stay....

If you do decide to go, I would NOT use any ice on the boat. I would also seriously consider bringing my own water or drink only bottled water. Stay hydrated!

Are you having any morning sickness? I would consider staying on land if you have any tendencies towards that... I spent a year on an oceanographic ship and sea sickness is so not fun, can not even imagine it while pregnant.

I do encourage you and your husband to take a vacation before the baby! It was a great bonding time for us and I believe being as relaxed as possible will help with the birthing process!

yeah - ON MY HONEYMOON! oops! :) i ended up pregnant before our wedding, but all plans had been made for months and we didn't want to change the cruise plans. i was about 4.5 months along, past my morning sickness phase. but i also am VERY prone to motion sickness of all kinds. but usually smaller planes, and smaller boats do it to me worse than bigger ones. so to be honest, i was sick ALOT on the cruise, b/c we had a "medium-sized" ship and it took me half the week to get used to the movement. i bought the wristbands that put the pressue on your veins and it helped alot, but i did take Dramamine a time or two. the 'tender boats' - the little ones that take you to shore from the cruise ship usually made me sick too.

so all that is to say that almost 13 years later, and well past having kids - i bet i would still be just as sick as i was when i was pregnant if i got on another cruise, which is why we haven't taken another one! :) but the places we visited were awesome and i don't think i would change it if i could go back and do it over again - cruises are wonderful!
