I just recently found out about book swapping online. Sounds like a great idea since I read a lot and don't like to buy new books all the time? Anybody tried this? Do you like it/ not like it and why? Also, there are several of these sites to choose from. Which one is the best? Thanks for your help!

I use both paperbackswap.com and bookmooch.com. I think paperback is easier to use, but that's just me. They both work about the same, but PBS makes it easier for you by letting you print the mailing info out where BM just gives you the name and address to deal with on your own. They are both great sites and I make sure to keep my wish list active on both since my odds are higher that way :) Also, I have gotten some wonderful books for my son on the site - great for him to get "mail" and a book without a trip to the bookstore! :) Happy reading!

i am currently using paperbackswap...its the only one i know of but i have loved it! its nice because you dont have to pay for a new book to read...but people dont always choose your books so you might not get credits without paying for them.....its not a perfect system, but it is pretty nice

My husband uses paperbackswap.com and loves it.

They have practically every book he's ever wanted to have or read, and new books are added all the time. You earn a credit to request a book when someone requests one of your books, and it seems like he's getting a request to send out a book every week or so, so he gets new books all the time.

The only downside I see to this website is that you have to pay for the shipping to send out the books, and it's about $2.25 per book. Some states have media mail (CO doesn't) and I'm not sure if that's cheaper than the first class rate we use. But, even at $2.25 a book I think we're still spending less money than we would if he was buying books (even at a used book store), and he's able to get books that aren't available at the library or are ones he wants to keep. When you sign up you get credit for two books, so I'd recommend giving it a try.

I can't tell you which is best, but I do have a coworker who does this and loves it.
