I just pick it out with my fingers, or use a really fine toothed comb, or a bristle brush to try to comb out some of the bigger stuff.
I am trying to sell some of my kids stuff on ebay and their coats have fuzz and/or other material in the velcro areas. Can't figure out the easiest way to clean it!

I take a needle and pick the fuzz out.
I use my fingers, or a seam ripper backwards (so it doesn't rip anything).
I use a fine tooth comb and then tweezers
tweezers fit perfectly to get the fuzzies out and no problem ripping anything.
One of those densely bristled hair brushes with the black stiff bristles.
Take a fortk and lift it out. Time consuming but it works every time.
I always used a fine tooth comb and that worked for me.
