Anybody Else Tried False Unicorn Root and Vitex?

One of the moms on Mammasource said that she had great luck with False Unicorn Root and Vitex when she was trying to get pregnant. I was just curious if anyone else had tried these, and if so what were your results? What other medicines were you taking at the time? I have PCOS with irregular cycles so I'm on Metformin and Progesterone to try to regulate my cycles. I wondered if there could be negative interactions if I add the False Unicorn Root and Vitex?

When I had trouble getting pregnant because of irregular cycles, I charted my temperatures and got pregnant the first month of doing it. Use a digital one and take your temp BEFORE you even get out of bed and then chart it. When I saw a drop, spike, drop, I took an ovulation predictor and it came up positive. She's 6 now :o)
They have them online that you can print out and you can even do the tracking online and they graph it for you. Just Google it.
Hope this helps and happy baby vibes,
J.
Mom to 2 bio, 2 adopted, awaiting the arrival of a 7 year old and hopefully more ;o)

I practice natural health and healing and I believe your best medicine for any thing is good nutrition. I would look more into that to help you with your cycle too. Herbs are very good also,I would look more into it though and research it before you take it. It probably detoxes you to help things to function better. Food can also be poison for your system so a good detox would do you some good and good nutrition....whole grains,fruit,veggies...Get rid of sugar, hydronated fats, and dairy...possibly look into allergies....like to gluten..wheat...dairy

I have taken Vitex (Chasteberry).
I am not a pill taker by any means, but was looking for something that would help ease my PMS symptoms (bloating and breast tenderness).During my research I happened upon Vitex, and called a local health food store.
The results-
IMPRESSIVE!

I would HIGHLY recommend it for the reasons I took it. I do not know of any cross-reactions or if it would help any other symptoms. All I know is it was GREAT for me.
Best of luck

See an herbalist or a naturapath -

I am an herbalist (who does not take herbal clients at this time) and use herbs on myself and my family. I am familiar with both of these herbs as well as MANY others that may or may not be appropriate for your needs. Only a professional can figure that out for you! I am concerned that you are already on medications that are affecting your hormones and you want to take herbs that deal with hormones. It is important to choose herbs that reflect the inbalance - which is very specific to your body and nobody elses. Have an assessment and find out what fits for you before you begain experimenting!

If you give a list of medications you are taking to your pharmacy and tell them the names of the herbal products, they should be able to tell you if their are any known interactions. Most pharmacies have a link to a natural medication database.
