My daughter is 10, she gets very involved in certain activities at times and procrastinates going to the bathroom. She has accidents and I admit I have not always been exactly understanding. I know she does not have a UTI as we have had her checked on several occassions and she is my healthy child, she by choice only drinks water...one of the reasons we have had her tested for bladder or kidney infections is no matter how much water she drinks her urine has a very strong odor. She had an accident, was embarrassed and did not want me to know, and buried a pair of shorts and panties at the bottom of the clothes basket. I tossed the panties in the trash, but she has so few pairs of shorts that I hate to toss out the shorts...I washed them once and they passed the sniff test ( gross I know, but I am a mom) and I tossed them in the dryer...when they were dry they still smelled strongly of urine : (
Is there anything that will take the smell out?

Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar; you can dilute it if you want and let the clothes soak overnight. Vinegar is an odor neutralizer and is my favorite to use around the house. Good luck.
I would rewash them and use the 30 minute presoak if that is an option and then run it through the regular cycle but maybe add a cup of baking soda to the soak. Make sure the clothes rinse well after the soak, and then hang them out in the sunshine to dry.

Try natures miracle sold at places like pet smart. The urine oder destroyer one in the squirt bottle works great on my booster seats and rugs. Let it soak over night in natures miracle. Then wash. It has enzymes that eat away the Oder instead of mask it.

Have you tried Nature's Miracle? Works really good from my experience with cat pee (which is super strong) so I think it would work really good on the urine.
As some of the other's have said, I have always had luck with the baking soda & vinegar. Also, as the other mom had said about watching for diabetes.
On another note, though, I was that child. I hated using the restroom. I didn't have accidents regularly or anything, but I do remember hating to use the restroom, particularly public or outdoor (I still cringe but I do deal with it & no I'm not a "germaphobe") & so I would hold it FOREVER, but then if I got to laughing or something then the accident would happen. My mom too, was not very understanding...that just made it worse & things down the road worse because I didn't feel I could trust her to understand anything (think starting her period & adjusting to that, if she hasn't already). enzyme-based cleaners for cleaning up 'pet accidents' are great - besides Nature's Miracle, there's one called Kids'n'Pets (Used to get it at Target when my kids were potty training) that's less expensive and also works well.

if your daughter's urine is strong smelling - you should have her tested for other issues - even though she only drinks water? she may not be consuming ENOUGH of it....as well as diabetes....no, I'm not a doctor, but it's not just UTIs that you have to look out for....

I've always had vinegar work. Sometimes have to run it thorugh a second time depending on how bad it is. Works on vomit smell as well (Oh the amount of bedsheets I've used it with after the kids got sick!). Put white vinegar in your wash load. I put mine in the fabric softener dispenser (don't use fabric softner).
