A shallow bath with some baking soda in it may help. Poor thing! Hope you can get in to see the dr soon.
I will of course call the pediatrician first thing in the morning but could have to wait until afternoon to see the DR. so I was wondering if anyone here had any tips for helping her in the meantime. None of my boys ever had a UTI so it's my first time dealing with it for anyone except myself.
Just in the past few hours my daughter has started periodically yelling "owie" , holding her vagina are and insisting on being changed (she is still in diapers). Each time there is very little pee and it is still warm so it seems like she had just peed and only gone once. This has me thinking possible UTI. I have tried getting her to drink cranberry juice because I know it helps me but she hates it. Even if I water it down or mix it with something else she wants nothing to do with it.
I was wondering if anyone here knew of any other at home things that I can do to help smooth her pain until I can get her into the pediatrician tomorrow?

I know my ped said I could give my daughter the Uricalm from the store at 2. I would go get her some of that right away! It is the same thing we use but a smaller dose.
If they are still open this is an urgent care problem. I don't think the cranberry juice will help at this point. Sorry.
Cranberry mixed with orange juice taste better than straight cranberry.
Please, before you give your daughter anything, talk to the advice nurse. Pain relievers for UTIs (Uricalm, Azo, etc) can cloud a lab test, which means that your kid has to go off the pain reliever for a certain amount of time for the urine to be clear enough to provide a viable sample because they won't give antibiotics without ensuring what sort of bacteria is causing the problem.
Try white cranberry cocktail juices so much better then straight red cranberry juice
Increase water intake and give sits baths. Give Tylenol or Advil for pain.
You could try cran-grape or cran-(any other fruit). Those taste so much better.
I have had lots of kidney stones (only a couple of UTI's when pregnant), and really the best thing you can do is have her drink lots and lots of water. You can give her a little ibuprofen. It really might help her sleep. But lots and lots of water. That's the best way to really flush out her system, which is one of the things she needs.
If she does have a UTI, there's really not much you can do except get her the antibiotics. Do make sure to give her probiotics (we usually just eat yogurt) to keep her system in balance. I'd hate to see her get a yeast infection after the UTI.
At this point, cranberry juice won't do you any good, she has a full-blown UTI. And for future reference, cranberry juice cocktails will not do you any good either, they do not contain enough concentrated cranberry to actually provide any benefit to the kidneys once they are processed by the body, you need pure, 100% cranberry juice. Sprouts and other health food stores can provide you with good ones from concentrate which can be diluted with water or drunk straight, although your little one will probably not be able to tolerate the sour taste of drinking it straight. My 9 yo likes the sour taste and drinks it straight on a daily basis to prevent future UTI's. (We have been dealing with recurrent UTI's since she was 18 months.)
At this point the best thing you can do is give her some Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen and get her to the doctor ASAP in the AM for antibiotic theraphy.
Good Luck.
