Any Remedy to Get Out Dry Erase Markers on Clothing?

Hi, everyone. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. For Christmas, my in-laws gave our kids a dry erase/chalkboard eisel with markers to go along with it. I soon discovered that these markers do not come out of clothing, even after I used a laundry spray pre-treater. Any ideas are greatly appreciated! I'm getting rid of these markers in the meantime and will search for a washable variety, but I'd love to salvage any of their clothes that I can!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your suggestions. We had already done our shopping trip for the week (we normally go as a family outing--in my pregnant state, I'm not up for dealing with tantrums from a 2 1/2 and 1 year old alone!) before the bulk of responses came in, but as soon as I get back to the store, I'm going to give some of these suggestions a try!

Thanks, again!
J.

I'm not sure about getting the stains out now that they have already been washed, but instead of getting rid of the "messy" things they like, have them put on old clothes to play in. I have always had a couple of shirts and bottoms that I didn't care what happened to them. These are the clothes they use when I know paint of markers will be used. My boys are 7 and 6 now. When they get home from school, they change into "play clothes." It helps save me from seeing stains on their school clothes.

I use a 3 in 1 cleaner that will clean up ink, marker, crayon, pet messes, nail polish, tar, grease, paint, mold, glues, residues, gum, tree sap, candle wax, eliminate odors from pets, smoke, mildew, diapers and more.

I do not have a remedy, BUT can suggest that when you use washable markers, have wipes ready to remove them from the dry erase board (and anything else they happen write on!). We just use Crayola washable mmrkers and they come right off (sometimes you need to follow up with a dry cloth after uuing the baby wipes).
Good Luck!

Funny, I put this same request in here a while back and got great advice IF YOU HAVE NOT WASHED IT YET. She told me to try Murphy's Oil Soap. It some how disolves it and it will lighten up even if you have washed it. But NO pre-treater will take it out, not even goof off. I have a few ruined outfits and now all dry -erase are all limits to the kids. Try the Murphy's Oil Soap. It is pretty cheap if you don't already have it and it is great to clean lots of stuff with, especially wood. I hope this helps.

There are a couple of different products that I could possibly recommend. One is Awesome cleaner which can be found in most dollar stores. Or Krud Kutter this can be found at Wal-Mart, Home Depot or other stores like that. Krud will remove pretty much anything and won't discolor if washed or cleaned fairly quickly. Let's put it this way, it took out ballpoint pen ink.

Good luck....hope this helps.
