Children's Montessori House (on Hedgecox just East of Custer)is right by my home but it's pretty new. Can anyone give a personal testimony for this school? I'm looking for a Montessori school for my 4-yr-old. Thanks!

Myself and four other mothers had our children there since it opened. We have recently removed our children and taken them to Soraya Montessori at Custer and Spring Creek. Effie (the director/owner at the one on Hedgecoxe) only sees the school as a business. She has lost all of her good teachers and more are looking to leave. The afternoon snacks are very small and all of our children were very hungry when we picked them up. She is very unflexible as well. The class sizes are VERY large (keep in mind you are paying alot of money to have your child provided with quality care). My daughters class had 31 children (3-5 yr olds). Since we have transferred our children to Soraya (which is LESS expensive and classrooms MUCH smaller) our children have learned MUCH more! Oh - and they receive free piano lessons each week here along with Spanish daily instead of once a week and they have daily use of the computers - though Effie claimed there was a computer center - the children were never allowed to touch them. I can go on but I know other parents are leaving as well.

Dear A.:

My six year old attends "Children's House Montessori" on Fountain Gate (over on the east side of Allen - off Bethany). It has been a wonderful school. 'Sorry that I can't tell you about "Montessori Children's House" on Hedgcoxe.

P.S. Maria Montessori called her school a Children's House. That is what the thing is with everyone using the same name.

Regards,

C.

I have two neighbors who have enrolled their children at Montessori Children's House and have been VERY pleased with what their children are learning/have learned! One lives across the street from us and we have really watched him blossom since he left KinderCare (one + year ago) and began at MCH.....the other child is quite a bit younger (3) and just started this school year - and his mom is very happy with the experience, too! Hope you receive some responses from mom's whose children themselves have been enrolled....that is truly the best response to receive but I hope this helps you feel a bit more comfortable about it. Good luck! E.
