Hi All! Anyone have a recipe using ground turkey? I got really stuck while making dinner tonight. I had the ground turkey already browned. But what to put with it? I prefer to use basic ingredients, but what goes with ground turkey? I didn't want to make spaghetti again. Thank you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the ideas ladies! I used Pennie's suggestion of taco salad and it was yummy! My hubby and son liked it.

There is a website called allrecipes.com that has a search area that you put in the ingredients you have, and the ones you don't want, and it gives you recipes that have that in it. It's fun!!! I got stuck one night for a dinner party, and completely forgot to get dessert, and all I had was crescent rolls, cream cheese and cinnamon, and it gave me good desserts!! Give it a try!

I use it instead of ground beef. My family like when I make burgers I just add lipton onion soup mix. It is also good in black beans or pinto beans.

Hi J., Southern Living At HOME has a great line of cookbooks. Simple Suppers, Busy Moms Weeknight Favorites, Slow Cooker, just to name a few. They are full of great recipes with beautiful pictures. Sometimes cookbooks are nice just to get some new ideas. Here is the website to check them out.

I use it to make stuffed bell peppers.... and I add Italian sausage to the mix (take it out of the casing), and mix in cumin, rice, olive oil. Stuff the peppers with it, then drizzle canned chopped tomatoes over it, liquid and all, bake it at 400 degrees, uncovered, until cooked. It's real good. My family loves it, even my daughter.

I don't measure any ingredients, I just go according to taste. So it's real flexible. You can use salt & pepper too...or not. It's up to tyou.

I actually saw the recipe on Martha Stewart somewhere...she used ground turkey...but then I tweaked the recipe to my taste and added my own seasonings and the sausage.

Good luck. Sometimes ground turkey can be "dry" as it is a lean meat...so I add olive oil to it etc.

I use ground turkey more often than anything and the one thing I have found is that Cavender's seasoning is a must.

I do spaghetti but I also use it for tacos and a meat loaf kind of thing. I take it from the package and flip it over into a roasting pan, season it with salt, pepper and Cavender's and add some beef stock to the pan. Cook it at 350 for an hour and then I surround it with a bag of frozen california style vegetables and let it cook for at least a 1/2 hour and I make mashed potatoes to go with it. It's actually pretty hearty and tasty.

If you like spicy food, you'll love this easy and YUMMY recipe:

1/4 ground turkey
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup corn
1/2 cup black beans (rinsed and drained)
1 cup tomato sauce
1-2 tsp. minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (you can buy this at any grocery store)
1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 wheat hamburger buns

Brown turkey with onions over medium high heat in large skillet for 8-10 minutes or until no longer pink. Remove drippings. Stir in ketchup, corn, beans, tomato sauce, chipotle peppers and cumin. Bring dish to a boil then reduce to medium-low. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring often. Mix in cilantro, salt and pepper. Place turkey mixture on wheat buns and enjoy.

** I always end up adding more of every ingredient that I listed bec. we enjoy very strong flavors but you can experiment with it to fit your tastes.

** You can omit the peppers for dishes that you share with your son bec. this dish does have a bit of a kick to it.

Hope you like it.

I use ground turkey for taco salads. Lettuce, ground turkey (usually with taco seasoning), salsa, cheese and crushed tortilla chips. You can also throw in avocado, olives & sour cream in if you want a little extra substance.

How funny you should ask this tonight... we just had macaroni and cheese and I wanted to do something different so I added ground turkey sloppy joe mix... turned out great!

I also use ground turkey to make turkey meat balls - either in spaghetti or with some teriyaki sauce.

Turkey burgers?

Use it in a lasagna?

Use it for stuffed bell peppers?

I'm 1/2 Italian, so I could go on....
