The doctor from the nutritional medicine clinic I recently went to told me to avoid any and all fad diets.
I am on Medifast and it is working wonders for losing weight. Simple to do and the results are amazing. I was just wondering if any one else out there is on the same program and how they are doing with it :-)

no, and i probably won't because the food is icky. but i've got several friends doing it, and the results are pretty dramatic. it seems as if it's mostly a packaged version of atkins, high protein, no carbs, and focused on putting you in kidney ketosis and keeping you there (effective but not good long term.)

I will celebrate my 1 yr of Medifast on Feb 16th. I have lost 99 lbs as of this morning. I go to Curves as well, 4-5 times/week. I love Medifast. I weigh 214 now and am working towards mid 160's as my goal. I feel that I can keep doing this as long as it takes. We go out to eat from time to time and I usually have the meat and either a salad or whatever vegetable they're serving. Occaisonally I will have a biscuit and butter or one of the small desserts, knowing that I will go out of ketosis and experience some hunger the next day, but it's minimal. I find that if I plateau a bit longer than I like, sometimes eating a few extra calories will kick-start me out of the plateau. Last May I visited my son in Texas and shipped the Medifast boxes that I would need before I left. I ate supper with them but limited myself to the meat and vegetables. We celebrated 3 birthdays while we were there and I had some cake with each of them. When I got home I found I had lost 3 lbs, which wasn't a lot but better than gaining. I went to Curves while I was there as well. That's about it to my story, I LOVE MEDIFAST!!!
I have a friend who has used Medifast. Numerous times. It's effective while you're on it but when you move to regular everyday food some of the weight will come back. It's best to work with your doctor or nutritionist for a well balanced plan. The results won't be as fast but they will be longer lasting since you will be teaching yourself to eat properly along the way. I'm doing this method and it is frustrating to not see fast results but at the same time I know that I'm not harming my body. Good luck with whatever option you choose.
