We use a couple of plastic tubs in our closet. We take a Saturday afternoon every fall/spring and rotate out the clothes. By keeping them in the closet, they are easy to get into if we need something warmer/cooler depending.

I group my daughter's clothing by size/weather in tubs, too and mark them accordingly.

I also put a dryer sheet in the tubs to keep them fresh smelling. Some of the clothes will need to be fluffed in the dryer when it is time to pull them out.

The first thing I do is get rid of anything that they didn't wear or won't fit next year. Then everything goes in a tote in their closet, we have lots of extra hangers, so i leave clothes on them, saves time when I get them back out. when you label the boxes, attach a clear page protector to the top of the box and then make a list of everything that is in the box and slide it into the sleeve. This way you can reuse the boxes for whatever you need later on without difficulty. I also mark how many of each item, and make a list of anything specific that we need to replace in case i find something on sale or even better at a garage sale.

Like Cora said I use storage totes, if there is a lot of clothing. I also label the totes with the sizes and whats in it. I also use space bags, they work great, but if you use those don't over pack them like it says or they might get a leak. Mine save me a ton of space, and I need that since we don't have storage. I recommend labeling any boxes that you use when you can't see what's in them. Ikea.com has a lot of good orgainizational systems. I've also had good luck with their products.

Ugh...one of the many seasonal tasks I absolutely dread! =)

I use large plastic storage bins/Rubbermaid tubs to store outgrown and out of season clothes. I label the side of the tub with the clothing size, store it in the basement until next year or for the next child. Usually twice a year (start of warm weather, and start of cool weather) is when I have to spend a day sorting thru the clothes of each child...packing away the stuff that is no longer season appropriate or that is too small.

I find that storing the clothes by size (not necessarily by season) helps, especially with the second child because she's not necessarily in the same size or season as the older child. That way when I know she is wearing 4T clothes, I can go thru the 4T tub and use what clothes I need.

Plastic storage bins you can get at Target, Walmart etc. I also label the side of each with a label maker so that it can be removed if I change the contents. On each label I put whose bin it is what season and the contents. On the opposite side I put the same but the other season. And then take a day to go through the clothes that need to be put away, set aside those I don't want anymore for the thrift store and fold everything up and put it away.
