We have the newest tykelight version and it lasts well in excess of 10 hours, especially in the green mode. We turn it on at 7:30 p.m. and off at 8 a.m. every day and it's still on.
hi everyone--
my 2-year-old daughter loves her oxo candela tooli led night lights, but she has woken up around 5am twice in the last week (unusual for her since she typically sleeps 8-8), crying and scared that her night lights were out. they are designed to last only 8 hours, so apaprently this isn't a problem for her on most nights. besides, by the time 5am rolls around, there is some natural light in her room, which i would imagine compensates for the night lights turning off. and she also has a regular 4 watt plug-in night light behind her changing table, so it's not like she's ever without light.
i feel it's more about being part of the nighttime routine that she gets to put those night lights on. also, as is expected, she is getting more particular about things being where they should be, so she gets sad and scared when things are different. she is pretty good at adapting to change, so i'm wondering if we should just phase out the tooli night lights (though they are so cute!), and put something fun/pretty in their place on her shelf.
any advice, either on replacements or whether we should phase out the lights and how, would be much appreciated.
thanks!
ps: i've looked around at the tykelight and the circo LED lights, but they "only" last 10 hours, if that.
thanks for your responses! we went with the teach me time alarm clock. so far it has been great as her "big girl night light"!

We got ours from Target, so it's probably a Circo. It's a blue bird. Ours most definitely stays bright for longer then 10 hours. we've been very pleased.
My daughter is 3 and similar with things being very particular, and we just got this clock because she was waking up too early and coming into our room. It glows yellow at night (the white body part) and in the morning (when you set it ) the body glows green so that they know it's OK to get up. But it stays lit all the time. This might help bridge the gap between the nightlight and the upcoming wakeup/clock that you will be needing in a few years.
