Just a quick check to see if anyone had any ideas for something to do this weekend. We have a 16 mo. old. Getting cabin fever! I know the temps are nice, but preferably something indoors due to the wetness factor!
Thanks moms!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. We ended up being sick this weekend, but I am off all week, so we may try a children's museum or going downtown!

The DuPage Children's Museum in downtown Naperville is a lot of fun. THey have specific areas on each level (2 levels) for little ones/ If you go, I would suggest getting there when it opens and when it gets busy go to the 2nd floor =-- it's smaller and not as busy.
Have fun

Sorry this is so late - I haven't been logged in today until now. Please check out my website, www.kidwinks.com - it's The site to know with kids in tow. There, you can find kid-friendly events, activities, restaurants (there's even a Dining Deals calendar in the Restaurant section where you can find out where kids eat free), shops and services throughout the Chicago area and suburbs. You can read parents' reviews of places they've visited and write your own (if you become a member, which is free). You can also get search results sorted in order of distance from your house (again, you must be a member for that benefit). Check the box to join our mailing list, and we'll do the work for you on finding fun things to do - we'll email to you twice a week links to upcoming fun, family-friendly events. We've received tremendous positive response to our emails - moms love them!

Check out www.gocitykids.com and search under Chicago. They've got a daily calendar of stuff to do in the city.

may be too late, as it is already Sunday, but here are some bounce places to check out... http://www.jumpzoneparty.com

We started taking our girls to the Chicago museums at that age and they loved them all. They really enjoyed all the new sights and sounds.
Your child is a bit young for my other suggestions but I will list them here - mini golf (Charleston Mall and then there is http://www.Puttingedge.com too),ice skating, roller skating, Lockport has 4 free museums,
Here is a link that you may want to bookmark for the future http://www.supportlibrary.com/nl/br.cfm?x=559&url=htt...

ADDED THIS ONE - not sure how complete it is, but there is a new kids' museum in Frankfort. http://frankfortchildrensmuseum.org/

Also good is Kohl's Children's Museum and DuPage Children's Museum. Here is a whole list of IL ones - http://www.childrensmuseums.org/visit/reciprocal.htm

Dear M.,

Sorry this is so late, but maybe you could use it for another day. I run a daycare and when the weather is bad, I have to come up with different ideas to help pass the time and keep the kids out of trouble. Most of the kids are between 2 and 9 that I do these things with, but I also play the games too. first off we take the throw pillows and have races with them. We put them in between our legs and have to hop, jump or whatever to the finish line. Also we love to take the big kitchen spoons and put balls in them and have races. If your ball falls off you have to go back. We also do scavanger hunts. We take turns hidding something in the house and everyone else has to look for it. I hope these ideas help.

The winter wonderfest at Navy Pier was great! I took my two year old and she had a great time. There are also other things to do at the pier.

I have many suggestions and it depends on if you want to spend a lot of money or not. If you are a Chicago resident you can get museum passes, from the public library, and go to the Children's museum, Museum of Science and Industry, or even the Field Museum. I have a 6 year old son and when he was that age and even now, since he is out of school, we frequent the museums. We belong to the YMCA and so I also take my son swimming because that is a great way to burn off energy and have something to do. There are places in Chicago that have inflatable bouncy equipment like Pump It UP which I believe is located in Old Town or Lincoln Park. I would also suggest looking at Dailycandy.com, or checking out what is going on at local libraries. Hope that helps, It is all I can think of right now.

Nibbles Play Cafe is awesome for little ones. I have a just turned 6 year old & she still has fun there - but not sure for how much longer - it really is for 12mo - maybe 5 or so... They are fairly new - they have a website... I believe they are in Wheeling (on the edge of it). I live in Lake Zurich & it's not far for me to zip over there. It's a great set up. They have a nice cafe - both adult food & kiddie food.... you can sit & drink coffee with a friend while the kids play (all within sight). They have "little" bathrooms for the kids - just a cute little indoor play place that I have really enjoyed. I usually get a friend or two to meet me there & spend a couple of hours - including lunch... fun - check it out!
