Hello all. I just thought I would see if anyone had any cool ideas for a birthday gift for me to give my daughter who will be 16 at the end of the month. I'm looking for a really unique special gift to give her. (she of course thinks she is getting a car - she won't but will soon) I've bought the Martina McBride's CD with the song "In My Daughter's Eyes" and am going to give her a ring with two of the diamonds out of one of my rings but I would like to add something else. I just don't know what. I want to do something out of the norm, something creative but not too expensive, to show her my appreciation and how proud of her I am. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated!! Thank you all!
when i was sixteen my mom got me a silver charm bracelet from james avery & had 3 charms on it & then every year i get a new charm. i love it! & it is very special to me.
This is what my mother did for me and I still remember how fun it was. We spent the night at a real nice hotel in downtown Fort Worth, ordered room service, rented a movie off of the tv, and went swimming in the hotel pool. Then the next day we went shopping. We just had a great mother-daughter bonding time.
What about a picture book? I did one recently for one of my daughter's teachers and it was a really treasured gift. You can put together all kinds of pictures from events of her life leading up to this year. I used Shutterfly www.shutterfly.com. It was easy to do and turned out beautifully! You can make her a special little scrapbook album. Maybe with pics of you and your hubby as children, on your wedding day, you pregnant, her newborn and baby pics, and special pictures of her growing up.
Just a special way to give her a little highlight of her heritage and life and how proud you are of her. Then, add special touches to it, like her favorite song lyrics, sport, activity, hero, animal... that will really show her how much you pay attention to her interests.
I make paper bag albums, and I have custom made them for people before, but if you would rather make one yourself, there are a lot of great tutorials online, or you can just get a premade kit at Joannes or Micheals and make a regular mini album yourself.

I've got a GREAT gift!!! I just did a sweet sixteen gift and she LOVED it! What do they care most about at this age??? Image, right? Some more then others, and some more then we'd prefer but...
I'm a Mary Kay consultant and we have the best skin care line for teens. Its a fun color packaging, (they really do care about that...) a light, cool scent and has acne treatment in it. Whether they need the acne treatment or not, you never know what's around the corner in puberty. Whether you are correcting, or preventing everyone has loved this set. It is NOT like proactive or any of the others out there!
Its a Cleanser and Moisturizer they use daily. If they can use it twice its best, and prepares them for when they age and how we should be washing our face twice as we get older.

How about a mother/daughter day out with tea. You could ask a friend with a nice convertible car if you could borrow it. Then go get your nails done and hair, have some tea at a cute, girlie restaurant, and then finish the day with some nice words, a scrapbook of the important events you've shared, and the other very thoughtful gifts you have already chosen.
When I graduated high school my dad put together a video of pictures of me from the time I was a baby through (then) present day, including embarassing ones. My whole family had a laugh watching it. He did it by putting the pictures on a table and zooming in and out on each one individually with a video camera, so you don't have to be great with computer editing equipment or anything to do it! :)
I suggest the James Avery bracelet too. You can make it very personalized and she can keep adding to it.
