Ok, the last couple nights my 8 month old daughter has woken up with a fever in the middle of the night. I thought she had another ear infection (she had one a couple of weeks ago) so I took her to the doctor. She doesn't have an ear fection but he told me to run my humidifier to keep her opened up. He said she might have a slight virus. She is eating fine during the day, acting normal but keeps getting this low grade fever in the middle of the night. Any ideas? a virus running its course? Thanks for any ideas!!

What can I do next?

I think you're right on target to be concerned. With our oldest, it was usually an ear infection too. Back in February, she had a fever spike each night for 3 nights, she was eating and sleeping mostly okay; so we took her in and it was strep throat.

Keep an eye on it. Our usual target is 3 days. If in 3 days it isn't better or if her symptoms get worse, then consider taking her in again.

Good luck!

Could she be teething? My 13 month old only runs her "teething fevers" during the night. She's not a drooler or chewer so the only way we knwo she's teething is when she wakes up with a fever. If she has no other symptoms and seems fine during the day and it truely is low-grade (ie: under 101) then I wouldn't worry too much. It should go away in a few days, but if it doesn't then be persistant with th Dr.

I agree that it is probably teething. I went through something similar with my son.

Being that your daughter is 8mths old and showing no other signs of a virus, my guess would be teething. Both of my children ALWAYS spiked a fever when they were cutting teeth. Hope this helps!

Have a great day,

My first thought would be is she teething? Next might be an upper respitory infection. Is she over dressed at night and making her too hot? I have generally went by what my doctor said. I did get a second opinion once when I didn't believe what my child's doctor was diagnosing. The first doctor was right and wrong at the same time. If she is not getting better by what her doctor is saying or doing; see another one and get a second opinion. Good Luck!!!
