Hello Moms! Does anyone have any ideas on how to amuse a 3 month old while I am giving some quality time to my 3 year old or paying bills, etc.? We have several play mats, but I feel like he gets so easily bored, which my mom says is impossible, but seems to be true. He looks up at me like, "you want me to look at these farm animals again?" I don't want to spend a fortune, and I try to keep him on my lap when we are reading and stuff, but I was just wondering what other moms do. Thanks

What can I do next?

My pedi had told me that itf he's not crying it's ok. That sometimes it's good for babies to have some time to just "space out". But I would suggest that when you are reading to your 3 year old you have the baby in a bouncy seat close by to listen. My girls were learning to read when my son was born, so I had them read to him as an infant, it was great for all of them!

Bouncy seat, jumparoo, or simply prop him up on a Boppy pillow and let him watch you play with your 3 year old! You can also put him in a Baby Bjorn while you take a walk or go the park. I used the Bjorn while doing everything, and my son was happy as could be!

My son didn't like the toys made for this purpose. So we put on music, and kids books on CD for him. We kept him in the Bjorn while doing things and that was his favorite, close to Mommy. At 3 months you could try the bumbo seat, even put toys on the tray. My kids both like those linking rings, soft (plush) books or those vinyl books (mostly to chew on), a ball or stuffed animal, mirrors to check out the handsome baby. Your son may just enjoy watching his sibling play - my daughter is enthralled with her older brother and can watch him for a long time without even needing a toy.

Hi B.,

I honestly don't think that a 3 month old need "amusement" They are still at that phase that just their hand magically passing across their field of their vision is stimulating enough. If the baby isn't crying, let him be.. Your three year old needs undivided attention. Now is probably the easiest time for that...
