Any Good "Diet" Secrets?

I am a 27 year old mom of two children. My youngest is almost two and I have yet to take off the weight from my pregnancy. I still have thirty pounds to lose and would like to lose it before the summer. Does anyone have any advice on where to start? For two months I walked five miles twice a week and only ate fresh produce, raw nuts, and a small portion of meat for dinner and still didn't lose anything. I am so frustrated and I am sick of people asking me when I am due with my next child! AHHH! Please help!

I would go to the dr and have your thyroid checked- sometimes the symptoms are masked during pregnancy so they don't catch it but it could be what is holding you back from losing weight.

I had the same problem. I couldn't lose my baby weight. After much frustration, I decided to try NutraSystem because two of myfriends lost 20+ lbs on this diet. I have been on it for three weeks and lost 10 lbs already!!! Plus I don't even exercise!!! Imagine how much more I could lose if I walked as much as you do now. You have to buy their food but it basically plans out your meals for you, this way, you don't have to think about what you are going to eat for each meal. I hope you give it a try. Good luck, K.

A little background...
In January I weighted 191, as of this morning I weigh 160.4,

My waist was 42" it's now 31 1/2"

I follow the book You: on a diet. I've done alot of research into nutrition, and I'm going to be starting school to get my AAS in nutrition and personal training. (this journey has finally given me purpose other then just a mommy and wife)

From what you said, you might not be getting enough calories. I hit a plateau and checked my BMR I was eating about 900 - 1100 calories when I need about 1500- 1800 because of my activity level.

Also you can't loose by cardio alone. You need some strength training with weights or natural resistance. Pilates is a good place to start with that. Or you can go to www.PodFitness.com sign up for a 10 day free trial and you can download customized workouts.

I started doing 30 minutes a day on the treadmill. I have been at it for two months now and have lost five + inches in my waist. I started with the Special K diet for a month and exercised daily. The Special K diet does work and then by time you do the 30 days you are so use to eating smaller portions and healthy snacks it is so much easier.

The weightloss gig has so many nooks and cranies in it. Heidi did the Weightwatchers thing and it worked great for her. Me? I quit drinking beer. Although I didn't drink a lot - it really stuck to my gut. We carry products called trim life in our business and have had great results from clients on it.

I can't stress enough though that everyone is different and you just have to find what fits you best. I recently heard of a plan that checks your blood type and equates a system that fits you based on your type.

The only diet that has ever worked for me was the South beach Diet. The first two weeks were really hard. You cut out all sugar, that includes fruit and bread. After the first two weeks you can introduce whole grain bread and some fruits. I really liked the book because it teaches you about the diet and the food choices. The book also has recipes and tells you what foods you can and cannot have for each phase (there are 3). PhaseOne is for the first two weeks. Phase two lasts as long as you need to loose weight , and Phase 3 is to maintain it.
You aren't trying a diet you are changing your eating. I lost 15 lbs in the first two weeks. After I got pregnant I fell off the wagon and gained 60lbs during pregnancy. My daughter is now 6 months and I too need to loose 30 lbs. It makes it easier to do the diet with someone. Let me know when you're ready, I need to start it again!

Sounds like something else may be going on with you. Have you tried doing any detoxification or cleanses? I know it might sound hokey, but they really do amazing things. The best one I've found out there is Dr.Natura's Colonix and Toxinou. I know they have a website, so if you do a search you should be able to find plenty of information. Good luck!

Go to sparkpeople.com start recording your nutrition you probably are not eating the right amount of food. Divide out your 5 miles 2 x a week to everyday.

It sounds like you may not be eating ENOUGH. Eating small meals 5-6 times a day is important to keep your metabolism running high. I did Weight watchers and less than a year I lost 37lbs. if you join you can lose a few before summer but not all.
It helped me tons. I was on meds for blood pressure and triglyserites and no longer take them. I am prego now and after I give birth I will return to WW to continue my life time with them.

Okay so I have the same problem the more I exersice the more weight I gain. Also the Atkins hing didn't work for me very well and on top of that My brain functioned very poorly while I was on it. Hi Janelle- I agree with Beth- Before you go spending a lot of money on "diet tricks" go get your thyroid checked. If you are reducing your intake that much and excercising, you should lose atleast SOMETHING! Your doc can probably do your bloodwork even in office and you shouldn't need to fast or anything!
