Any Comments on Dr Haider in Carrollton for Child Dentist

I don't know this Dr, but I would definitely go somewhere you feel comfortable. Dr Asher, Dr Train, Dr Ryan--all great pedi dentists!

Wow...any time somone tells me "I can't be back there with my 4-yr-old son"...that sets off every alarm in my head and I would look for another dentist...no way I send my small son back there alone.

Great pediatric dentist...both my kids love him:

I don't know about Dr. Haider, but we use Dr. Hamby in Richardson and he is great! My son is 12 and has never had a cavity(knock on wood!). He put sealants on his molars and I think that really helped. Good luck.

My child had dental surgery with Dr. Haider. He is rated as one of the best pediatric dentists in the area by his peers in one of Dallas's magazines -- can't remember which one now. I was concerned about the same two things and said so. You will be given a consent form that details what they might do. You can cross out what you are uncomfortable with. The restraining seemed reasonable when they described what it was - similar to what the nurse does when he gets a shot - vs having him sedated. There was something else I didn't like - can't remember what it was but I said no to that and crossed it off. They said, "ok." As far as going back, I asked what the issue was and they talked about the sterile room and the kid not being as behaved with the parent in the room and I agreed to be in the general room where I could see the surgery through the glass door but where my child could not see me. This required the Dr.s ok. It was against their procedure. I know he did not have a "happy" pill. I think he may have had some gas.

If you do get a second opinion check the dentist out at this web site: http://www.tsbde.state.tx.us/dbsearch/default.htm#1 to see if they've been disciplined by the dental board (Haider has not).

I don't know that dentist...but we love our Pediatric Dentist. Patrick Ryan - he is in Presby Plano. (972) 608-GRIN. He won't recommend anything unnecessary! Even my boy's Dr sends his kids there. They are great!! Just wanted to share if you do get a second opinion.

Get a second opinion. Dr Tipton Asher is absolutely amazing - and you can go back there with your child. (My daughter is 4 years old too, and has seen him 4 times.) He sealed 2 of her molars that were cavity candidates so we wouldn't have a problem later.

I had a lot of cavities when I was little and I never had gas or a happy pill. My parents didn't always go in with me, but I don't think it was "forbidden".

I would trust your gut on this one. A second opinion never hurts.

You will love the women in this dentist office in Plano at Parker and Preston: Miranda Lacy DDS and Heather Hagen DDS. They are great with kids and adults and they are extremely professional -- ###-###-####. I'd definitely get a second opinion. It would be very hard for me not to be with my child when he's being medicated, gased, etc. You have other choices and these women have small children of their own. They've taken care of me and my son for years. Please call them!

If you heard that this Dr. has restrained a child do not take your child there!! A wonderful Pediodontist is Dr. Jeff Jaynes in Plano. He is in the Lone Star Crossing building on Coit Rd. very close to the intersection of Spring Creek.
Please get a second opinion, you don't want your child to be afraid of going to the dentist, it should be a pleasant experience.

I would research the procedure which will tell you about the doctor. I have heard baby crowns are not necessary and often ill advised as they can invite infection.

Look on this site under business reviews, then medical /dental. It is Kidz and Teen Dental in February.
My personal experience is this: Dr. Morgan in Richardson told me to get four crowns on my daughter’s teeth. I thought that it was too much for baby teeth. I told Dr. Haider I didn’t want too get so many crowns and he agreed to do two crowns and the rest fillings. This ended up being the wrong course of action. And I deeply regret it. One of the two teeth that we did a filling on ended up causing my daughter pain and had to have a crown any way. And the other tooth cracked and had to be pulled. There was no way to save it. If I would have just got the crowns in the first place (with Dr. Morgan) I would have avoided a lot of problems.

I do NOT recommend him! We saw him two times - one for routine check-up & once after my 20-month old had fallen & chipped his tooth. He wanted to do major reconstruction after the fall for no reason at all. My sister-in-law took our niece & she had to have 10 cavities & be admitted to the hospital for the procedure. My opinion is that he tries to prey on moms who want the best for their children - while making you think that this extensive procedure is the best choice for the child. We went to Dr. Terri Train who offices in the Easter Seals (?) office at Hebron & Josey by Trinity Medical Ctr. Her main office is in Richardson; however, she does have a few days in the Carrollton office. Her second opinion was that the chipped tooth wasn't that bad & to wait and see if there was sensitivity, color change, etc. It would have been more traumatic for us to go through Dr. Haider's procedure! Just one mom's comment, but I fear there are others out there.

I do not know anything about Dr. Haider, but if you are looking for a 2nd opinion Dr. Terri Train is a pediatric dentist we have used for many years who is in Carrollton and has been great with our children.

Yes, get a 2nd opinion - first because you have reservations about how the dr intends to handle your child. In addition, why is it necessary for baby teeth to need a crown? They're going to fall out in a few years. Aren't fillings sufficient and less time conusming for your child?
I can understand not having the parent(s) in the room because children will cry and beg for their parents to rescue them, which doesn't get anything accomplished for anyone and only prolongs the fear in the child. When the parent isn't in the room, the child will usually settle down more quickly. But, there should be a way for you to observe without being seen by your child.

We've had absolutely no problems at this office. My son has had nothing but wonderful experiences. I do go back but I sit in the area where the kids play games. I've never had them tell me I can't. They will let you do this. My son is 6 1/2 and I has been seeing the doctor since he was 5 1/2. Dr. Haider is a true professional in every since of the word. I've never seen him do anything but smile and encourage the children.

Second opinions don't hurt but I think you will find that Dr. Haider and his staff are reputable and very careful within their practice. My son received a cap after another dentist's work didn't hold. It was this other doctor's office that I wasn't allowed to go back.

My son had no problems with the gas given by either doctor for his dental work. You have to go with your heart though, as a mom.

My concern is that a innocent mans reputation is at stake with comments made by hearsay.

Good luck in finding what makes you comfortable as a mom and finding what is best for your son.

I do not know this dentist but by reading your post, makes me leery! Crowns at 4? Have you had a second opinion?

Here's my response. Seek a second opinion and if you can't go in the room, then your child doesn't go either.

Definitely worth a second opinion! ANY TIME your gut tells you something isn't quite right, I would highly recommend checking your other options!!

My children go to Dr. Bob Morgan in Richardson. He is great...highly rated (consistently a Top pediatric Dentist in D Mag), and the office is so kid-friendly (Dr. Bob actually makes balloon animals for the kids...they love it!). He did recommend caps for my older daughter's baby molars, but it wasn't until she had several new cavities on ONE visit, and he would only do the procedure at Children's Medical Center, where a pediatric anesthesiologist would do the anesthesia. (Most, if not all, deaths during dental procedures occur when the patient is anesthetised in an office by someone other than an anesthesiologist.) My younger daughter has never had a cavity!

I know you've already gotten a lot of responses...but I wrote a review on him under local businesses awhile ago. My daughter had a very bad experience with Dr. Haider, fillings done improperly (caused a lot of pain), told she needed a palate placed on the roof of her mouth,etc...staff was very rude when I asked for her records to go elsewhere!
I know the kid-friendly environment looks inviting, but don't be fooled - the quality of service is not there.

I would not go there. I am probably the person who said they restrain children and when we went for our second opinion, the second dentist could not find a cavity! Definately get a second opinion. If you want, send me a personal message and I'll be happy to share our experience with you.

Always get a second opinion. Always. If the doc won't let you back, then don't let your child go back.

I would not go to any dentist who refused to let me be back with my children. It's my personal opinion that the whole thing about them not cooperating and all is a bunch of baloney. And restraining a child for dental work - BAD idea...that's a good way to get a dental phobic child on your hands. My childhood dentist refused to use nitrous and all I remember about that time is fear and pain. My blood pressure goes through the roof when I have to go to the dentist - even for a simple cleaning. Your gut is telling you something is not right, listen to it. I would absolutely get a second opinion. FWIW, we use Dental Care 4 Kids in Flower Mound and absolutely adore them. My kids look forward to going to the dentist every time. They are pretty conservative in their approach and both docs have been voted Super Dentists in Texas Monthly (by their peers) for numerous years. I can't even say that I'd recommend one over the other as they are both just great with the kids (it's a married couple). When my oldest was 2 and I took her in for her first check up, he let her do the exam while sitting in my lap since she was so frightened. I was immediately hooked. And just as a footnote, both of my oldest girls (6&7) now go back on their own. But it was on their terms, no one ever said boo to them about it. Good luck with all this!

Dr. Duffy in Flower Mound. She's the best pedi dentist around and EXTREEMLY kid friendly. You would be back there with him...that's just insane that they want you to walk away from your 4 yr old. NOPE!!
It might cost you to see her but I wouldn't trust anyone else. Even if I have to wait on my dentistry, I'd pay cash for her to treat my kids. LOVE LOVE LOVE her and her staff...they are ALL ABOUT THE KIDS!

I don't know Dr. Haider, but I CAN tell you that there are dentists who won't put such a restriction on you. The dentist I went to growing up had the attitude "it's going to hurt, so get used to it." Consequently, I am a dentalphobe. As a side note, I just had a bone graft where the bone had fractured (I'm now needing an implant). He gives me a "happy pill" and then gas, so I don't remember anything. Please be careful about who your little one's dentist it!

I work all my life in the dental office my dad is a Dentist, I worked as dental assistant for 15yr. if I was you I will take second opinion, I asked you as a mother of 3yr boy, to be there for your child and not lesson to the doctor that he say you can't be there in the room why you need to asked him why? this age is very important for the child to have very good experience other way you will have very hard time to change this bad one, it will take one time to make bad experience but it will take you a lot of years to change that bad experience.
