A real nonbarasive skin care products are from Clear Skin. They work really well and are gentle on the skin. Out of any of the products out there I would try those. Good luck.
I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter and wondering if anyone out there has skincare advice, she does occasionally get a blemish or two but I am not sure if it is too early to start her on some kind of skin routine, any thoughts?

Physoderm is an awesome cleanser, very gentle. Also try an oil-free moisturizer. Alot of times, dry skin (even if oily) is the main source of acne.
8 years old is definitly not to young to start a routine of taking care of her skin. I am 30 something (he,he) and only just started a few months ago, when I started selling Sensaria. I always just washed with water, I felt I had good skin and I didn't need to worry. The fact is, times are changing, and i am learning so many things. It is the fact that she is at that age where hormones will start to factor that creating a routine now, can only help not harm. Our products are all natural, no alcohol- so they would work on her. I would be happy to get you some to try. If you like it great, if not no biggie. Nothing gained, nothing lost. Whatever you decide, i say starting the good habit now will only ensure the beautiful skin later!! Good Luck!!
The average age of female hormones kicking in and even periods starting is 9-10 years old, that was in 2003, I learned that in my developmental psych class on wednesday. I found it amazing because the average age when I was younger was 12-13! I wouldn't use heavy products but you won't be hurting her skin in anyway by teaching her a regimine, good skin care now could prevent her from having bad skin in her teen years, when it can hurt the most psychologically! Try neutragena or clean & clear, they're both mild.
Hi N.,
I'm not sure if 8 years old is too young for this product but ProActive is a great skincare routine. It has made my skin clear free and smooth looking. I love it! If you want anymore information on this just let me know.

Hi N.,
How refreshing to hear of a mom who is concerned about her daughter's skin before she has the major problems that so many teens do.
I provide the nutritional education for a local gym and have seen people experience skin improvement when their nutritional needs are met. Here's how it works. Our skin is the largest organ of our body but because it is not one of the essential ones (like heart or liver) it gets the nutrition that's left over after the essential organs get when they need to keep us alive. Healthy skin starts from the inside rather than just cleansing alone although cleansing is important, too.
The products I have seen people get the best results from are made by Shaklee. I even know of one young lady who has ezcema and it clears up when she uses the liquid foundation made by Shaklee. Their skin care line has 8 patents and many other well-known brands are begging for the rights to sell the products, but that will not happen. Shaklee's nutritional products come from 50 years of research and development. Even NASA has Shaklee make a product for our astronauts when they re-enter the earth's atmosphere to prevent them from dehydration. I'm not surprised when people say they get such wonderful results. Here's the website if you're interested in their products: www.shaklee.net/changinglives. If you want any more information, please let me know.
Hello,
I'm no dermatologist but I think with a child this young who hasn't gone through puberty yet, hormones are not a factor. Also children do not have active oil glands. So I'm thinking maybe it comes from her diet? Try cutting fatty and fried foods, processed starches, sugars, spicy foods, acidy foods... see what works. Also make sure she keeps her skin clean to eliminate bacteria. Burt's Bees products are very mild and natural. They have a blemish stick you might want to try.
My 8 year old stepdaughter experiences some mild breakouts as well. She washes her face each morning and night with a mild facial cleanser, such as Clean & Clear. I've found that regular mild soaps, like Dove and Aveeno, cause her face to dry out while a gentle facial cleanser seems to help her complexion while maintaining moisture. I'm a huge fan of teaching her earlier how to care properly for her skin, rather than later when the minor skin issues will turn into full-blown acne. Bonus: She already loves being involved in my morning routine--why not take advantage and educate her while she's interested? Good luck!
I agree with most of the advice here, except the ProActive products. I don't think those are intended for 8 year olds, but I could be wrong - I would definitely recommend asking your pediatrician first. A few things to keep in mind - washing your face is as important as bathing regularly and teeth brushing. It's definitely a good idea to start a basic routine, Johnson & Johnson has the buddy's line and one of the products is a hand and face wash. I would ask your pediatrician if there is a safe soap and moisturizer she could use. Also, kids are starting puberty earlier and earlier these days so ask your ped about that as well. I would also recommend not making a big deal about a blemish or two, you don't want her to become overly self conscious about it. Good luck!
N., please go to http://www.lhn-inc.com/2253685 and look at the soft rose cleanser and toner. Both those items are completely safe for an 8 year old and the ingredient list is available online for both so that you can see for yourself. I noticed that a few people thought she was too young for hormones to be kicking in, but studies have shown that our daughters are experiencing hormone changes at a much earlier age than generations past. In fact, in one third world country, two and three year old girls are developing. If you'd like to know more about the studies, just send me an email. I'll gladly share with you what I've learned. Infinite Blessings!
I don't thing starting with a mild product maybe even recommended by your doctor would be harmful. Getting her started now into the habit of taking good care of her skin will help her later in her teens when she has the blemishes that come at that stage of life.
I would say that she is too young to worry about getting acne products. Teaching her now to have a good skin care regime is awesome. She should learn to just wash her face every morning and every evening. At this point, you can probably just have her use a gentle cleansing bar like Dove.
