Any Advice for Extra Income?

I have come to realize we are just not making ends meet. I have been able to be a stay at home mom for years and I hate the ideas of putting my kiddos in daycare, but I really don't know what else to do? I have very little job experience (besides that of a mother), so I don't know what to do. Even if I got a full time customer service job (averages $10/hour), after paying childcare, I'd bring home about $100 a week, which is just not worth it to me. I've sold Avon and Mary Kay before and it didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me to bring in extra income, preferrably without putting my kids in daycare full time? Thanks so much!

If you enjoy spending time with little ones, you could babysit from home. A listed childcare provider can watch up to 3 kids besides her own. Call the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to receive the registration package. The Dallas phone # is 1-800-582-6036. Hope this help.

You can make a little on the side by doing mystery shopping. There is a web site that starts with a V (I can not remember the name) that list legit companies to sign up with and they e-mail you what they have available.
It will not be a big pay day, but you could probably make 100/week if you stay busy.

good luck

Hi A.,
I am trying to find extra income myself. I came across an opportunity to become an eSpecialist...basically I sell other peoples stuff on ebay for them. So far i'm just getting started. It cost $75.00 to join but I think it's worth it. I found another person doing it in my city and she is making a good part time income. Check out http://www.foundvalue.com/dwatkins

If that isn't your cup of tea, someother things i've done is consignment of my kids clothes or sell them outright for extra income. Also, my sister-in-law as three kids and to be home full time with them, for 1 1/2 years she had a newspaper route that she did 7 days a week from 3:00am-6:00am while my brother was home and the kids were sleep. She cleared about $1,000 a month. When that position went away, she opened a day care in her home. She takes in 2 kids in the same age group as her two youngest and takes in 1 after school age child for an hour. She is in another state and you should check what the child ratio is for your city.

Hope that helps....D.

I also was in your position until recently. I was looking to earn a little extra income and I happened to talkm to the right people and get invloved in a great company. I work as a buyer for a licenced, insured gold purchasing company that is the NEW way to make lots of quick cash. The price of gold is at an all time high right now and our company has a very unique way of making YOU money. Basically, you set up a date and a time for us (2-3 hours) and we do all the work. We come to the place of your choice and purchase any gold, silver, and/or platinum that you and your frinds no longer wear or is broken or damaged. We do all the work. Your friends get paid top dollar everything, immediatly! If you host the party, you get 10% of everything purchased at your party in cash, on the spot. Any of your friends that decide to book a party thereafter, you get 5% of the total purchased from their parties as well. We set parties up in offices, schools, private homes, churches, hotels, ect. If you have two hours to make a few hundred dollars-cash, call me and I can let you know more of the details and about our dates available because our calenars are filling up fast! Have you ever though about trying to work at a child care facility? (not necessarily in a class, but maybe in the office as an assistant). This way, your kids can be around other kids, and you get to check in on them throughout the day..Some daycares will give you a discount on child care payment, or you can work an extra hour per day to take care of the cost. Just a thought. I know how you feel, I have been there before...

Most customer service jobs such as data entry or call centers start at $12.00 - $14.00 these days. There are plenty of corporate offices in the DFW area who are looking for full-time (Im looking for part-time). They pay well because they want to retain their employees after training. Usually, you wouldn't need experiance as they train for these types of jobs. Usually that want you to have some computer exp and be able to type. These jobs also have great insurance which can lower your current rate (if thats a problem) and also help out with child care (a percentage). Don't forget your paid time off for both sick and vacation. Most these places have "flex-time" meaning you can work 7-4. This will allow you husband to drop the kids off and you pick them up. Flex-time also means if you need to leave early one day, you can make it up that week.

I was so worried about day care myself. I looked at close to 10 different places in my area. My 2 1/2 son was so ready for school and so bored at home. Well, I picked a new place down the street for him to go part-time and this is his third week. He loves it! He cant wait to go to school. He jumps out of bed, trys to get his own cloths on, and then runs into the garage. So, Im saying its so scary to think about leaving your little ones in someone elses hands. This board is full of advice for child care.

Go to www.indeed.com to find jobs in your area. It a great web-site that pulls all other career and corporate search eng.

Good luck,
T. Lee

EBAY!!! Start by selling things around your house that you don't want anymore. Read everything on ebay to learn--if you take the time to read on the website, you'll learn alot!! You'll have a lot of fun. I know I've just dabbled and I've really enjoyed it and have made some extra money. I have a 3 year old and a (almost) 1 year old--so my day is pretty busy.
