I saw a similar post, but here's my deal. I got a 7 qt crock pot for Christmas. I'm wondering if I should exchange it for smaller one. There are 3 of us in my family, so this is large for one meal for us. I mostly use it to make soups/stews or oatmeal. I would love to make in bulk and freeze, but do these things freeze well? Actually, the oatmeal I would plan to keep refrigerated and just use for the week or something. Anyone else do this? It would really be nice to freeze/use meals ahead, but don't know if I will. Not sure how they'll keep.

Thanks mamas!

We have a huge crockpot, and I love it. Depending on what you make, you could end up with just a couple of days of leftovers or with plenty to freeze and eat later (which is always nice when you don't feel like cooking). In your shoes I'd probably keep the big one just to have the option of making more (like if you go to a potluck or have a large group over and want to make something big). But if storage is an issue, a smaller one might be better too. That's my only complaint with the big one.

7 quarts is quite big, but i would dream of having one that large! That would be a great size if you are having people over and/or making food where you will want leftovers. If you decide to get a smaller one, the 5 qt is great. I think i would be happy with either though =)

I have a five quart and I do like to freeze my left overs. That would be a very large one but if you want to freeze multiple meals then it would be nice. I have frozen spaghetti sauce in those freezer bags and it really does not use that much space.

I use my crockpot for roasts & big batches of soup/stew/chili. Wouldn't trade it for the world!
