it doesn't apply to all series....happened just last night to me. I had become accustomed to the auto-advance & really missed it. :)
So I always tell my son "We can watch two episodes, then we're turning it off." Well Netflix just started an autoplay feature. I have like 15 seconds to hurry up and turn off the tv before the next episode starts! (tv time I am often busy busy working on dishes/laundry/cooking and can't make it in time!) I don't have access to a phone right now or else I'd call them and gripe and see if it's a feature I can turn off. So .... do any of you know how to turn off the autoplay feature? I tried their FAQ search with no luck. It's quite annoying. Sure, after two episodes it will pause half-way thru and ask you if you want to keep watching or not. Well that's annoying for the show to get interrupted mid-way! How about at the end of one episode it just stop?
My two questions:
1. HOW do I turn this autoplay feature OFF?
2. Anyone else annoyed by this?
@TeenMom: I'd already read all the info on that link you sent. It does not tell me how to turn the feature OFF. It just tells you exactly what I said above (that it'll give me 15 seconds before autoplaying... what the screen will look like .... what to do/press into that second episode....). Thanks though. But no help from that link.
@Talkstotrees: Our remote turns the tv on and turns volume up and down. That's it. Our tv is like a big monitor attached to our computer. So everything must be done with the mouse. Our remote would never be compatible with Netflix b/c I am running Netflix just off the internet. But your sarcasm made me laugh. Thanks.
@Riley: When I put the cursor over the "next episode" button (looks like >I ), all it says in the mini-menu is what the next episode is about, plus a little thumbnail picture of it. In all those little icons, nothing about autoplay or "postplay", just English/Subtitles and Episode slection
@Candice - I wish web-based Netflix let you have a KIDS and ADULT section! I hate that my QUEUE is a mix of all sorts of things. I'd actually love to make categories "Mom" "Dad" "Son" "Family" so we could sort out our whole queue.
@Others - my tv is basically a giant computer screen. I just move my little Internet Explorer window into the tv monitor instead of my computer monitor. No Xbox nor Playstation or whatever. Just a plain ol web-based streaming.
@ Jenna - I will maybe have to give your idea a go. That - or, well when that next episode starts, well my son will maybe watch those couple of minutes until it interrupts it and asks what I'd like to do (keep watching, back to browsing).
So all in all - none of those suggestions work. But thank you! I will call Netflix when I get a chance. Sounds like maybe there's not a way to fix this!?!? And interesting to hear that many of you LOVE the feature. We don't have a remote. Everything is done with a mouse, so every episode I do have to get up and press go, but at the same time, I prefer to NOT have to jump up and hurry to get the episode to stop. I turned the autoplay feature OFF on Hulu. Couldn't stand it!

Hold cursor over ffwd (next episode) button. A mini screen should pop up. Click auto play off.
It's been around for ages.
You or your son probably bumped it on, on accident. I just did that last night (and had some WACKY dr who dreams until I woke up and shut autoplay off. Wouldn't have minded if they'd been capt jack dreams. But nooooo. Telepathic missionaries instead.)
Yes, we have netflix, and no I haven't even looked for a way to turn off the autoplay (you can turn it off on hulu) because I have this thing called a remote control on which I push buttons when I want to go back to the menu, keep watching a paused show, or turn off the tv. It's really cool, you should get one!
eta...
hahaha! We have a PS3, so the "remote" is the joystick. Do they still call it a joystick? Anyway, you have a good and friendly heart to notice I wasn't being mean :)
Hmm. My Xbox doesn't autoplay.
I wish it would. lol. It's kind of a pain in the butt to turn on the controller and wait for it to 'boot up' before you can play the next episode, then shut the controller back down.
I think your best bet would be to set a timer based on how long the show is... for a 30 minute show, just set your own timer for 1 hour and check in then. After a couple of tries, you will know the EXACT time you need to set, since episodes usually have set lengths.
We have Netflix on the PS3. Since they made it where you have your adult menu and your kid menu separate, i only have auto play through the normal netflix. If i go through the kids menu for my daughter i don't have to worry about it autoplaying. You could try that?

I enjoy the feature, but somehow lost it. I assume it's something one of the kids did, so if that's the case then I assume it could be...or mine is just stupid? lol
I haven't tried to figure it out though, maybe someone will come along and I can turn mine back on and you can turns yours off :)
yeah, we use it on the PS3 & Wii and do NOT have this issue for the kids version (I assume it works the same for Xbox). I personally LOVE it b/c I am SOOO guilty of marathon watching Law & Order SVU!
Please let me know if you get rid of that feature!!! and HOW? Thanks
