Angry Birds Birthday Party

Hi moms...I need some suggestions from the crafty, imaginative minds out there. My daughter is turning 9 and we are going to throw her a party here at home. We are thinking of doing a camp-out in our yard overnight. She likes the game Angry Birds and we want to make that our theme. We are hoping to do pizza, s'mores, games. In the morning we will have breakfast and perhaps a scavenger hunt before the parents come to pick the kids up. I need some decorating (easy) ideas and any other ideas you might have that would be away from the traditional "pop a movie in". Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

My husband made an Angry Birds birthday cake that you could actually play. All the pigs and birds were modelled with fondant, the blue blocks he made out of lemonade jello, the wooden planks he used shortbread, and built a traditional slingshot into the cake. It was awesome. It worked properly.

We threw my son an Angry Birds party for his last birthday. I decorated balloons with these printables: http://go.tipjunkie.com/pr/5418/www.thepartyanimal-blog.o... I also used them to decorate favor bags.

We decorated a pinata to look like one of the green pigs. The kids at this party were too young for any games that involved slingshots, but we did a beanbag toss with beanbags that my friend sewed to look like the birds. We threw them at cardboard blocks and water bottles with the pig faces taped to them.

I thought about doing one myself!I looked for those things where you launch water balloons with. I thought about the stuffed animals at Walmart and how one could collect some boxes then paint them to look like the blocks or look like wood. They could be made to be hard or easy. The kids would need them to be pretty easy due to most of their challenge being to actually hitting the area much less than knocking the structure down.

I have to say there are some great ideas here! I am throwing an Angry Birds party at the end of the month myself. I thought up a water balloon game myself (still needs to be tested, though-lol). Put 5000 point game scores in a green "pig" and fill with water. Then hang the balloons from a tree. Each kid gets a turn trying to shoot out the pig with a slingshot (we got from the dollar store). Once the balloons are all gone, whomever has the most points, wins! We thought we would let the winner wear a King Pig crown.
We are also doing a egg hunt. It's agreat way to reuse old easter eggs. Again- put points inside the eggs and whomever has the most, wins the main prize- the coveted "Golden Egg". This of course is one of those large easter eggs with goodies inside.
I think we will also make an life-size angry birds course like another poster suggested. That sounds like a ton of fun.
I saw a great way to make angry birds cookies but using a rabbit cookie cutout. If you tear off the ears and leave little nubs, they make the perfect shape of the pigs.
I don't know if you are on pinterest, but there were some great ideas on there as well.
I can't wait to see the other ideas on here!

Okay, immediately this game popped into my head and I think you can easily make it Angry Bird-ish! Bear with me as I explain the rules, but it's called the sock game. You will need lots of pairs of socks and a big wide open area.

First, spread the balled sock pairs all over the playing area. Pair each girl with a partner. Blindfold one partner. The blindfolded partner has to be the one to find the socks and throw them at the others. The unblindfolded partner has to give directions and tell them where to throw, when to duck, where to find the socks, etc. This is a traditional team building game, but honestly, it is really super fun and I've played it with adults and everyone loves it!!

If either member of the partnership gets hit with socks the team is out. Last team standing is the winner. You could easily pretend the socks are the birds and the partners are the pigs. It could be pretty fun! Also, you can just play it over and over again and it really doesn't get old that fast! ;)

For breakfast I'd see if you can't go with an egg theme, it relates to birds! ;) You could do a toad in the hole and it looks a little like an egg in a nest. Or if you're really feeling creative make some pancake batter, dye it a color of one of the birds and then add a little black gel frosting to each pancake to give it some Angry Bird like features for a face. It wouldn't take long and each girl could get one bird pancake and then you can just make extra plain ones.

If you have old Easter eggs lying around, you could use those in your scavenger hunt too...I know it's not "angry" but it's birdy! ;)

Hope that helps!

My friends just did this! The best thing was the game, they painted cardboard boxes and built a slingshot, which they used to shoot balls painted like angry birds at the boxes. The adults and the kids all had a blast!

only suggestion I have is to make your pick up time solid like 9am cause your going to be tired and ready for kids to go. do the party stuff at night and in the morning a donut and juice and out the door they go. (30 years experience with sleepover friends lol)
