hi everyone...
i've had 2 miscarriages and just had my 3rd iui yesterday. both of my losses were @ 5 weeks.
does anyone know statistically what the chances are for a 3rd one?

i'm just a little nervous because i went to see a hemotologist for my blood results and he informed me that i have nothing wrong with blood clotting and that it's a double edged sword because i can hope for the best but expect the worse. what do u guys think? and yes, i am aware that this doctor has totally zero bedside manner..

thanx in advance!

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

I'm a firm believer in nutrition. Have you heard of Bobbi McCaughey? She carried 7 babies to term because she had the perfect prenatal vitamin. Prenatals are not all alike and many physicians prescribe the wrong ones. If you'd like some information, I'll be glad to get you some.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had a miscarriage myself and it is heart wrenching. I really don't believe in odds. God is truly in control!

Regards,

M.

I had a two stillbirths and then had a healthy pregnancy. Had they not closely watched my progesterone my youngest would not have made it either. I am so sorry for your losses. I pray all goes well should you decide to try again.

M.,
I have no stats for you. Sorry :-(
I had two miscarriages before having my son. I hope the third time is a charm for you too. My progesterone was low.

have you had bloodwork done after getting positive pregnancy tests? Could be something as simple as low progesterone.

25% odds of miscarrying "After two consecutive miscarriages, there is a 75 percent chance that the next pregnancy will be maintained. After three miscarriages, there is a 65 percent chance. " I typed in odds miscarry after two miscarriages. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/25/health/25brod.html

I took progesterone and well as folic acid before getting pregnant. That allowed me to have a healthy pregnancy after numerous miscarriages.
I agree with going to the doctor and seeing about blood tests.
I had three miscarriages over a 10 year period. It is heartbreaking and really terrifying to think "What if I have to go through it again? What if I never have a baby?" :0)

The odds may not be helpful since every person is different
and has different hormones, bodies, brain chemistry, etc.
So statistics from a very large sample of women
may be of no value in your personal situation.

What is an iui?

In addition to the hematologist, I presume you've been seen
by a (competent, caring) gynecologist. Some doctors
don't want to give odds or probabilities because
it might cause inappropriate anxiety or, even, confidence.

See what your gynecologist has to say
about your individual history and current condition.
And don't expect the worst.

Good luck.

Even though "they" said no blood clotting problem, maybe a specialist would consider baby aspirin once a day. Have you gone to a specialist or a doctor who deals with high risk pregnancies?
