Seeking to find a dog groomer that has the knowledge & experience of making my dog look like it's breed. Sometimes when they are scissor cut their coat looks very choppy and does not blend well. If there are any groomers around Tinley Park, Lemont, Homer Glen areas I would be happy for any suggestions.
ps. Also a person that loves their job grooming and takes their time on all dogs.

Thank You :D

I would probably be your groomer (mobile) & since 1989, but I'm not in IL and out of work between hand surgeries. Some advice: Bring a few photos, make many clear notes w/ specifying what length you would like each area, etc. Not all groomers do a "puppy cut" the same or there can be 100 different ways to do a Shih Tzu! Voice your frustration, be specific and ASK IF YOUR DOG MAY BE HARD TO HANDLE ALSO? Some people mix better w/ certain animals than others! Try for a "seasoned" groomer, not a "new one" and not "crabby & burnt out"! Another option, although I HATE TO PROMOTE (STORE CHAINS) IN THE TRADE
BUSINESS; but, you could take him to Pet Co or Petsmart and when his hair comes out wrong, refuse to pay, but voice that this IS YOUR INTENT to the grooming shop manager first. I much rather advise you to stiff a chain that really hurt us small business owners in the mid 90's than to advise this with a small business owner, like myself whom is COUNTING ON THE $30- from your Shih Tzu. Next option, drive to me in MI, get into a grooming school or BEG A OLDER, TIRED groomer to take you in and teach yet another one of our own breeds w/ OUR OWN STYLES . GOOD LUCK

I use a groomer in Homer, near 159th & Cedar. I don't know how she is with your dig breed, but I really like her and I think she enjoys her job. She also takes time with the dogs. For example, my dog does not like the dryer, so she sets her up with fans instead. This takes longer. The place is called a cut above.

Barking Beauty in South Downers Grove. (63rd and Main st). We have a Lhaso Apso and Donna does a GREAT job! Our dog also doesn't mind going to see her. It's $40 for a bath, haircut, and nail trim. She's open Tuesday - Saturday, but she is in such high demand that her Saturdays book up real early.
