I love Dr. Bronners! I also love Arbonne's baby care line and California Baby.
I am not a fan of Melaleuca. Their Renew lotion has petroleum in it and while I think the soap works just fine.....the Gold Bar completely discolored every part in my shower that it touched. I was extremely dissatisfied (for many reasons over a 5 year period) and never got so much as one penny back.

I love the Melaleuca soap - they have kids soap and shampoo. You might also try the lotion for the dry skin, it works wonders! Let me know if you want help getting some. :)

Dr. Bronners castile soap. Best thing around and very mild. Get it at your health food store and I am sure other places as well.

I like California Baby shampoo and body wash. It's completely all natural, and smells wonderful. You can get it at Target.

My baby is also (almost) one year old. I've used without problems Cetaphil (the soap, from Costco, but they don't always have it), then when she had her first cold I switched to California Baby (they had one with eucaliptus oil, for colds - got it from Babies R Us), and also I've used Aveeno and Earth's best (also BRU.) She was fine with all, but if I had to rate them I'd say Cetaphil was the best, followed by Aveeno. Cethapil was the only soap, all the rest were liquids - I've read somewhere that the liquids are more drying for the skin because it's easy to use more than needed (and I believe it from what I've seen.)

Jason's organics.

I didn't like Dr. Bronners - stings the eyes. And don't use lavender scented stuff on boys. Can't remember why.

as some others have recommended, cetaphil is truly the best. seriously. it is non drying and emollient. no fragrance. so safe.

in addition, my pharmacy just told me cetaphil can be used to wash hair. and it is so gentle, that it barely causes tears etc.

We use homemade soap from www.realsimplesoap.com My oldest has eczema and psoriasis, and these soaps are amazing. We use Oatmeal milk and honey for him, or the regular oatmeal one. There is an unscented one too if you don't want scent. The bars last a long time if you keep them on a draining soap dish.

Target also carries Method brand kids soaps, Squeaky Green, they work well too and are non drying. Also Burts Bees or California baby products too. What you want to look for is a soap with no sulfates and no nitrates. Those are drying and bad for the skin. BAby soaps (like Johnson and Johnson, etc) are the worst, they contain mass amounts of sulfates that dry skin and are terrible for sensitive skin.

Our pediatrician recommended Cetaphil - you can either buy the cake of soap or the pump. If you belong to Costco, you get larger sizes of the pump there for the same price as a supermarket. The moisturizer CREAM is good too!

I started making goatsmailk soap, this soap is extremely creamy and moisterizing, leaves the skin very soft, all natural, I would look at Whole Foods, if they carry goatsmilk soap....

Yep..I'm with Alice. Dr. Bronners liquid castile soap comes in all kinds of lovely natural scents, like lavendar, peppermint, eucalyptus, etc. I like the lavendar best for babies. It is all natural, not very sting producing if it gets in the eyes-though it's not specifically for babies it is very, very gentle. And the nice thing about the liquid, aside from the fact that you can buy it in bulk--reusing the plastic containers over and over--is that you can easily dilute it to half or even quarter strength, and it will work just beautifully.

It's been a staple of natural foods stores and natural living officionados for at least 30 years. Good stuff. You can even use it as shampoo in a pinch.

I do no use regular store bough soaps, baby/kids or adult. I suggest Melaleuca products because they don't have any of he nasty ingredients that the other products have (even the most popular baby products). Their baby/kids product is called Koala Pals. My daughter's skin is no longer dry. If you son has a particular skin condition, try their Renew line.

Most children don't really get all that dirty each day and so I would only wash an area that is dirty eg. bottom and leave the rest to maybe a weekly wash. soap by its nature is very drying and children's skin is often much less oily than an adults or teenagers. Much of the world does not do the daily shower, daily bath thing that is so common in the US. good luck.

I've never heard of pigeon soap, but when my kids were babies I loved using Baby Magic or Johnson' Baby Wash. They smelled so good and were so soft. I can almost smell it now...

dove is a great choice. also, just try washing your baby off with warm water and no soap. only use soap if really needed. this is what we had to do when our son was a baby. he had eczema really bad and the dermatologist told us not to use soap and to slick him up with vaseline to keep his skin from getting too dry. They also told us not give him a bath every day. just wash him off!
