It's totally normal to have increased vaginal secretions this late in pregnancy. If your water is leaking or broken, you'll know soon enough- it's a lot more fluid than damp underwear!
I am 38 weeks & just had an appointment the 27th (yesterday). My midwife measured my belly & said it was perfect.. Just like every week. But I seem to be a bit wet in my under wear. This has happened before. But I just figured it was pee... Could it be my amniotic fluid? I smelled it this time & doesn't smell like anything.... What should I do at 2am?

I had a similar experience - I "leaked" all day (I thought it was pee too) and then that night the baby shifted and whoosh! I had my baby three hours later!
Keep an eye on it and call your doc if it keeps up. Good luck!
I hope that I'm not too late. With my first born, I thought my water had broken; IT DIDN'T. My doctor never usually had any assistant in my appointments and he took out this long crochet needle looking device and HE Broke my water!. This was just the start of a very tramatic birthing experience for my psyche!!. This happened before I could resist and say, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING". When my son was six months, I switched to my doctor that I have now. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I thought my water was going to break because of what happened. A friend of mine said, that you know your water didn't break and you will go to the end. The doctor's in this practice told me that my water didn't break if my doctor went in and broke it himself. I knew that there was nothing that I could do about my son but I would be careful with my current pregnancy.
For all I know with my son, it could have been pee but because that doctor didn't do any tests, I didn't know if it was pee or amniotic fluid. So my dear, make sure that they do the tests to see that you are leaking fluid because I found out later that there are. My son was born a month early because this doctor did what he wanted. Babies are made to stay in for 10 and not nine. I understand the safety issues of blood pressure and all the other host of issues to the mom or baby but some doctor's want the money. My doctor was in rush and was leaving on a trip. My son's head was right there ready to come out but a nurse came in and said you've done great but were doing a c-section. My son wasn't in distress my blood pressure was fine. My doctor never even came in to check me again. It's really frustrating when you feel that you have no control. I had a lot of control over my daughter's birth. I love my doctor now. I changed when my son was six months old. My doctor confurs with me about every thing that he's doing or going to do. There are no surprises. I understand emergency issues but Florida has one of the highest c-section rates in the country. G-D Bless you and keep you. I will say a prayer for you and your baby.
Amniotic fluid should be a little thick and white.. if you didnt feel it literally coming out than its not.. relax and wait for contractions if nothing happens than youre fine..
By now, you know it is nothing. Or you have had your baby. Best wishes!
