Mamas & Papas-

Have any of you used the Amazon trade in program to sell old books or electronics for amazon credit? Does it cost anything to ship the books? Was there a reasonable turn around time? Did you think it was worth your while? The alternative is to take them to a charity shop.

Thanks in advance,
F. B.

I've sold some old text books to Amazon in the past. You put in the ISBN number for the book, they tell you how much if any they will give you in credit, then you print out a pre-paid shipping label, box them up and bye-bye. Super easy, totally worth not having to drive around and haul them into a used book store and I considered it free money since they were sitting in a box in my garage for many years. I used another website also, can't remember the name, but they took a few things that Amazon didn't or offered a better price. The books I couldn't sell, went into the donation bag

We used the Amazon trade in program for my daughter's old iPad. It worked out great! They offered more money than another company we were checking into and we received the credit very quickly. We had to answer some questions about the wear and tear on the item and they gave us an estimate on what they would be giving us but they needed to check the item out before a final price would be decided on. We were pleased when they gave us the maximum amount for her iPad which is what we thought we should get since it was in great condition. We would definitely use the service again when we upgrade electronics.

I haven't used the program but saw day before yesterday that they were offering double the usual back on video games, so told my sister since my nephew has tons and can use the gift cards she receives towards new ones. Oh, and I did read the items you trade in ship for free.

I have a few items I can trade in, and will more than likely do it in the fall before Christmas shopping, I buy a lot from Amazon.

I have used it. They provide paid shipping labels, so all you have to do is package books up and drop them off. Turnaround was about a week or so for me, maybe a day or two more. It isn't worth it for all books, but on some they offer a reasonable percentage of the sales price as credit, which helps me support my reading habit.

I would do it again.
