Hey ladies!!
I realized somethings about myself and I was wondering if its just me or are there others?? Here we go, I think im more of what you call "type A" as in I have to have a plan. Im so not a whatever goes kind if girl. I need it written down to look at and I hate surprises! I hate odd numbers too. If I make eggs for my family I have to use even numbers. Ill make 6 eggs, never 7. We all have 2 peices of toast, not 1. I have 2 kids because I didn't want a odd number of kids. Being pregnant 2 times was bad enough I sure didn't want 4 pregnancies! I do the same thing just about everyday and I hate when something "pops up". Is it strange?? Am I the only one??

What can I do next?

I'd say the "even' number thing sounds sorta ocd'ish.
The plan thing is pretty normal tho.
I'm not a planner, more of a winger.
It's probably 50/50 on who plans and who is spontaneous.
Some things definitely require a plan~ but in my life I've found that most things don't need one.

No.....numbers never bother me in that way but the oddest thing happens to me when im stressed and i take a shower. When i am frustrated and am in the shower my brain travels to areas of thought involving complicated math ive never learned. I see things squared, and divided with funny symbols and i have no idea what it means. The math doesn't relax me either it makes me grit my teeth and i try not to contemplate it anymore , but it is hard to shake.

**************i hate math too!

Each of us is different...that is what makes this world of ours such an interesting mosaic!! I am definitely different that you are...I don't think much about odds or evens...unless it is time to be decorating the church for Christmas time...then I like "odd" numbers...somehow I just think it looks better! I am not much of a type A either..but my husband and 2 of my 3 daughters are...real go getters...always have to be the best, the top the smartest, the first etc. I am much more relaxed...let me enjoy life...stop and smell the roses...and I don't work well under pressure.
I think each of us is a product of our upbringing...as well as the people that have come into our lives over the years...I know I am a lot different person than I was at 16...and a lot different than I was as a young bride at 20 or a first time Mom at 26. We each grow and change...and we just need to love ourselves...and others...for what God has helped us to become.

No, you are definitely not the only one. In fact, you sound as if you may have a certian degree of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Whether you have a problem, or not, however, depends on if it impacts your life in a negative manner and keeps you from accomplishing goals, tasks, or functioning

You are not alone. But while I lean towards Type-A...I can also be a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda girl...I take things that are thrown at me and run with them. I write them down to ensure I get my priorities straight and the stuff done right.

About numbers? Nope. Never thought of it. Use what I need! :)

I don't think you are strange!! I like you just the way you are!

My sister is like that. And if I invite her over for dinner at 1:00 and we eat at 1:15, she goes crazy.

Ahhh....thank you ladies for making me feel a bit more normal.

I count syllables. I like for the syllables in a sentence to end in a number divisible by 4. I don't aim for it, but am quite satisfied when it works out. I'm in my late 30s and have been doing this since before I was 10. I've never told anyone before as I know it's a SUPER quirky OCD thing I've got going on!!

I only buy things in the grocery store in even numbers... 2 peanut butter jars, 4 jars of tomato sauce etc... so I feel this is completely normal from my point of view :)

You sound very much like me actually. Even the numbers thing, although multiples of 5 are exceptions to the rule for me. I think it is strange, but you aren't alone :)

As far as the kid thing goes I always said I'd never have 3 because of the whole middle child thing, but my husband really wants 3 and I said I'd consider it if the sex of the first 2 is different because then the middle child thing is more subdued. I'm pregnant with #2 now, but we don't know the gender yet...so we'll see if I'm up for a 3rd, lol.

No, you are not the only one. I do things like that but not quite as bad. I used to have it worse but 'made' myself change a few things. I forced myself not to count certain things and eventually it helped. But I do count almost everything I do, always lucky number 7. Not even numbers though. You are not weird. It is an OCD thing i think.

Well, @amanda, I don't get symbols in my head, but when I am in the shower, I usually tend to do my budgeting. LOL
I can estimate how much money we'll have in retirement funds 10 years from now by adding our current monthly contributions, plus a minor amount for growth, and then include in all of this what year the mortgage will be paid off and when we can expect to be able to buy a new vehicle outright, and how much our Xmas budget will have in it each year.
All while shampooing my hair.

And if I figure all that out (I do this often, so it doesn't take me long anymore, lol) and still aren't through in the shower, I start estimating what I think other people's income/expenses might be and whether they can afford what I see them spending or whether they are going into debt to live that way.

I don't know why.. but I do math in the shower.

Oh yes, I thought I had a mild form of OCD! Glad I'm not the only one!!

I HATE surprises!! I have to see the entire plan, directions, complete outcome and three possible outcomes before I do anything. Drives DH nutty. My grocery list has to be printed on card stock with little open bullet points and I have to cross it off with a black sharpie going from the bullet point to the last letter on the line. In college I would recopy my notes three or four times until they were perfectly neat and orderly. When I type and I make a typo I have to delete back until the typo is gone and the retype it, instead of clicking the cursor and just fixing the typo. My towels have to be folded a specific way, fold side out. I hate putting a random amount of gas (like $43.21) in the car, it has to be rounded to the nearest dollar ($44.00).

Oh, and I do this this thing where I blink when the lines on the road hit the front of the car-- not sure if that makes sense but its like playing guitar hero in my head with the lines in the road, just no guitar, no music, and I've been doing it for 20+ years. :)
