Am I Overpaying the Sitter?

I have two children who go to a babysitter two times a week. I drop the children off at the sitters at 8am and pick them up between 5:00-5:30 pm. I have a 2 year old and and infant. I pay the sitter $25/per child each day($50.00/day for both). So I pay $100.00 per week. This also includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks. I have been getting different opinions from my friends, some say it is a good price, others say I am overpaying...

What can I do next?

Hi P.-
As an In-Home Childcare provider, I can honestly say that you have a great price. Most places charge more. I think that what you are paying is really good. You can if you want "shop around and see what else is out there, but in my honest opinion, I'd have to say that that is a good price. I have been in Child care for over 7 yrs. and I know what's out there. Also, if your children are happy and you are happy with the care they are getting then stay; if not the shop around and see what else is out there. I hope this helped.

I did in home care for kids and was charging $100 a week for one kid full time with meals and was based on learning, with that said I think $100 for 2 days is okay, maybe a lil high. Does she work with your boy as far as educational stuff goes, and play games, go outside?

Are you kidding me? You pay less than 3 dollars an hour. That is less than minimum wage. If you had a babysitter in your home, you could not pay less than maybe 8 or more considering the ages of your kids. Why do people think daycare should be so cheap? I mean some places are so expensive, but they are taking care of your CHILDREN!

P... i never had a home babysitter, but when i did have my kids in daycare it was $189.00 a for just four days!! My son at the time was 2 1/2-3 and well on his way of potty training and my daughter was an infant as well. So considering there's one on one and food is included I personally think that's a great deal. Just and FYI 5 days a week for my two kids would have been $289.00.

I think it's a steal. Break it down and what is your sitter getting per hour? She is also providing food for your children. If this sitter is doing a great job with your children I would keep her! She isn't even making minimum wage when you break it down.
