It got me to thinking about my own health. I really don't KNOW how healthy I am - at least not the numbers (I am a healthy weight).
Yes. I should get a physical and some blood work done. ((note to self: make this happen)) In the meantime, I hope you won't mind if I throw out a few questions. Let me know what you think.
I am terrible at remembering to eat. Yes, my kids eat. Yes, that would be a good time to feed myself.
I get distracted. No joke. I'll be making the kids (healthy...MOST of the time ;-) food, and will think, "E....you've got to eat some food." And then, "Yup, I know, I'll do it in a sec."
Then the phone will ring and it's an old friend who thinks she might be pregnant (!!!!!), or my husband will want to tell me the most Important Ground Breaking Thing about...Geoducks, or the dog will be in heat (reminder to self, nag husband to have dog spayed and have argument with self over whether I should just get it done), or I'll notice the ever mounting pile of laundry that still hasn't gone ahead and done it'self. Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera.
And then I've forgotten.
Until I remember. And then I'm so hungry that I can't think straight and will put the first thing in front of me, into my mouth. MOST of my eating is done after the kids are in bed. I'll eat one meal, and a few snacks during the day (and many, many bites here and there), and then I'll have a big big meal before bed.
So here's the question. Can that be okay? I've heard eating before bed is a terrible idea. Makes sleeping hard, makes digesting hard. True? False? Gray area? I don't think it's ideal...but is it Terrible?
I've made some progress. I started this new plan called: Start Eating Breakfast E....Or Else.
So I drink a smoothie in the morning with my kids (greek yogurt + banana + milk + baby spinach + what ever tasty fruit is in my fridge/counter, lecithin = monster shake). I do this...some mornings (I did today!!! All day long!). Along with a good quality women's multi vitamin (and four thousand cups of coffee and a cigarette). Hey, it's a start?
How often do YOU eat? What works for you/doesn't work for you, and why?
And am I doomed to bad health because I eat too much at night and not enough during the day? (I say this tongue and cheek...sort of ;-)
girl you are preaching to the choir!!! I have a 2 1/2 year old and 8 month old twins. Most days I only eat one meal and it is usually late after the kids are in bed. I snack here and there. It is hard when you have little ones running around and there are the dishes to be done and laundry and the bathroom to clean and bottles and diapers and baths and playing and outside time(if the weather ever allows it) and on and on and on....I usually only eat right on the days when hubby is off from work and pretty much makes me eat. I dont think you are doomed to bad health. Just be determined...oh yeah, and about that cigarette....have one for me??? LOL

It won't always be this way. You WILL in fact have a COMPLETED thought without interruption again someday. You may even SIT across an actual dinner table from your husband eating delicious healthy expensive GROWN UP food, including wine. You could even have a conversation with him (not about the dog's needing spayed either). That part is optional.
And yeah, I've read it's better not to have a big brick of food in your gut just before bed. It also is probably not very good for your sex life either, particularly if it's rice and beans.
Someday your life will be about you again, I promise!
:)

I eat three meals a day and a snack if I get hungry before dinner. My kids are on such a tight schedule, that I just do meals when they do (more or less). If you let yourslef get to the point were you are starving, you are likely to eat wrong and overeat. And true, giving your body a rest during the night is good. Its a fast and it gives your digestive system a break. You're not doomed. You are in control, make your life and eating habits what you want them to be. Sounds like you like your current system.

Good for you for having breakfast.
But you should eat regularly. Sporadic eating has been linked to cancer and it makes for blood sugar problems.
I eat constantly throughout the day. I never miss breakfast. I have a smoothie with Shaklee protein, wild blueberries, and organic spinach.
