Alternatives to Pediasure?

The pediatrician suggested Pediasure for my 13 month old because he's not eating enough to gain weight. He's basically on a liquid diet because he's super picky. I'm guessing he has texture aversions. I'm going to continue offering him foods with different textures and I'm sure he'll come around at some point, but until then I plan to supplement his diet with Pediasure as his doctor suggested. The thing with Pediasure is that it has sooo much sugar! If you know of alternatives, please share! Thank you!!

What can I do next?

I have a relative who helps kids like this - she's on the pediatrics team, a pediatrics dietician. She helps kids your child's age and even much older with picky eating and texture aversion, etc. She helped a little on who would choke on a cheerio and she was well past 2 years. They know which foods to offer, how to prepare and in what order - so just wanted to mention that in case it continues.

The sugar is probably to help kids put weight on (Pediasure). I had to take a supplement once and it was full of sugar, but that was the point. I was ill and lost weight. As well they have all the nutrients of course.

Good luck :) If I talk to her I will update my post in case she knows of something else to try

Whole milk has all the fat and protein that pediasure does. Maybe buy a nutri bullet or ninja blender and make super simple smoothies with whole milk, whole plain yogurt and some fruit?? I have one and LOVE it. It will liquify carrots even. Fun fact I didn't know......you can peel bananas and freeze them and they won't go brown! They make a smoothie seem like it has ice cream in it! yum

Orgain is an alternative. Full of Frits and veggies too. Still has some sugar but so much better than Pediasure!
