Alternative to Overnight Pull-ups

We have been potty training my son for about weeks now. He is doing really well. I bought pull ups that we call "sleeping underwear" for naps and bedtime. I am completely amazed by the fact that he is already waking up from naps and overnight dry. My question is what are the reusable alternatives to pull ups. I am throwing away pull that are dry after he wears them a few times so instead of buying more I am thinking there has to be some sort of absorbent training underwear that you just throw in the wash. I'm not quite ready to just put him in underwear yet. Are there any that you have tried that you would recommend, because the 2 times he has woken up wet it is a fairly large amount.

What can I do next?

Let him wear underware and protect the bed instead. That way if he stays dry all is great, but if he has an accident he will know what it feels like and it will help him stop. Pull ups are too much like diapers and gives them the feeling its ok to wet in them.

Well, you could just get the thick, cotton, absorbent training pants (Gerber makes some) and put a waterproof pad on his mattress, then a sheet, then a pad, then a sheet to make it easy if it does happen.

And while he sounds like he's well on the way, sometimes kids don't stary dry at night til a year or so later...sometimes 5, 6, 7 even...it's not about "training" at night--it's physical development that may or may not be there yet.

I used Pull ups until we had 2 dry weeks in a row & then he was good to go with reg undies. Good luck!

to me the pullups are still worth it - if he's doing as well as you say, will you even really keep buying them after another couple weeks? so at most you spent another ten or fifteen bucks on one more package, then you're done. although, i might invest in a waterproof matress cover. we have moved to that stage and i feel SO much better knowing that when accidents happen it's not going to ruin the mattress.

Blueberry Trainers or Super Undies. The Gerber ones are nice, but are not made for overnight and will only hold a little amount of urine before they leak everywhere. Just search cloth training pants- you will come up with a ton of sites.

Found some on amazon! Target might carry them too, but only in some stores... also the liken has the ones with the plastic covering and the cloth together so that M. work better overnight.

I agree with the other moms on the extra thick cotton undies, plus protecting the bed. I was thinking though to use the big blue square things (in the nursing home where I work they call them chucks). They are like diaper material and lay big and flat. Good luck (I'm jealous we aren't that far yet)

Hanna Andersson makes cotton 'training' underwear. Not cheap but supposed to be very good. We just jumped right from diapers to underwear at night. Pull ups are just very expensive diapers as far as I am concerned.

Well, my philosophy is I'd rather have a wet pull up than a wet bed and have 2-3 loads of extra laundry. But to each their own. I would wait for a couple of months before changing to anything else.
