Congratulations! I'm due on the 28th. I'm sorry you're miserable. Are you taking any labor prep "concoctions?" Are you using evening primrose oil inserted into the vagina? These are two things recommended by my midwife.
The best advice, I think is to try your best to stay comfortable. I'm sure that's not easy with an 11 month old baby running around. Incorporate as much help from family and friends as you can.
My hypnobirthing instructor said that if your body is not ready to have the baby and your baby is not ready to be born, no amount of sex, spicy foods, or anything else will bring on labor.
I have another friend who dranks lots of cumin tea trying to bring on labor, but was closer to her due date than we are. It wouldn't hurt you to do it, though. Eating 5 tsp of cumin, turmeric, and/or chili is said to be one of the best things you can do for your body, according to YOU, THE OWNER'S MANUAL.
Stress can bring on labor, but be careful, those last two weeks are critical to your child's development. During these last, and most uncomfortable days, your child's body does things like close the septum between heart chambers, myelination of axons in the brain (though it certainly continues after birth).
From: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment/38...
"Babies at week 39 weigh about 6.8 to 7 pounds / 3 to 3.2 kilograms and continue to build the fat stores that will help regulate body temperature after birth. Your little one's organ systems are fully developed and in place, but the lungs will be last to reach maturity. (Even after your baby is born, it may take a few hours before she establishes a normal breathing pattern.)"
Again, I'm sorry you're miserable. Please hang in there.
Lots of luck and love to you and your soon-to-be-born son,
N.
