I hear the experts say the longer one waits to introduce nuts to babies the more likely they will not have nut allergies. I would say at 12 months if it's okay with the doc. We did not introduce PB until the kids were 2 here though. It's just too easy to have a choking child. PB and other nut butters are sticky and hard to swallow if they get even the tiniest bit too much in their mouths.

Have you asked your pediatrician or the nurse line at their office?

I second Angie. I asked just last week and my pedi said no need to wait on introducing anything except honey and choking hazard food. So mmmm almond butter.

Ask your Ped, but personally I did not nuts of any kind (or products) until mine were 2 since an older child can better handle a reaction.

My pedi says there's no medical evidence to limit any non-choking hazard food except honey (not until after 1). We've done nut butters for forever.

Ask your pedi. Also, do you have any nut allergies in your family? We have several fam members with almond allergies, so I was actually more concerned about almond products than peanut ones. My opinion...there's plenty of time once that year marker hits. But if you introduce any nut butter early, I'd suggest getting it fresh ground so you'd know there was nothing else in it except the nuts. :)

I gave my son peanut butter around 8 or 9 months. My ped said there is no reason to delay it, just spread it thin and watch carefully to avoid choking. We never had a problem.
