We have had our savings with them for years and never had any problems. We were with them when they were GMAC. Transfers to outside accounts take about a day or so. Overall good experience.
My husband and I are thinking of using Ally bank for a money market account, since the interest is much higher than at our own bank. We would be using this account for emergency savings only. Any experience with this bank? Or, any other good options that you are aware of?

I have a car loan through Ally Bank and they take my money just fine.
My parents have used Ally Bank for short term investments (CD's and the like) and they have been very pleased. Ally has been easy to work with, and the outcome with good. They had no issues.
We do no business with banks snymore for anything, not even a bank account. We use credit unions, have had fore years, because they just don't have the issues regular banks do.
Another through for savings, if you want to build a retirement fund too, would be Vanguard. Their website is www.vanguard.com. I don't have much money, but I've been with Vanguard for 6 years now, and have had good results. They have people you can talk with, and while their website is a bit confusing at first, you can have them walk you through it. Vanguards fees are very low, less than 1/2%. They are mong the lowest fee availblr for investement groups. The best part is that you don't have to be rich to invest with them. A smallo amount of money will get you going.
Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you would like more info.
GMAC (former name of Ally) almost went bankrupt but they're in good shape now so I think you'll be fine.
Probably doesn't help much, but we have two vehicle loans through Ally and don't have any complaints.
We have several CDs with them. We've always been pleased, and the interest is a lot better than any of the local banks.
