Hi to all.....I am almost 8 weeks pregnant and suffering severley with allergies these last couple of days. I put a call in to the Dr. wondering which allergy meds I can use while pregnant. In the mean time, I need some relief right now! Can someone give me some advice??? Thanks in advance!
Sudafed will help clear your nose so you can sleep. Or, prop yourself up with extra pillows (to clear your head) until you get a response from your doctor. A humidifier might help also.
My allergies are pretty severe this time of year. I am on Alavert, Nasonex (nose spray), and Optivar (eye drops for when my eyes goo up). My doctor okayed them all, but I went without, relying on sudafed until I got her approval.

Congrats on your pregnancy! My ob advised me to only use benadryl when needed and Tylenol for aches and pain. I wouldn't try anything until you hear back from your doctor. It was hard dealing with the sneezing, etc, all the time, but it was worth it. You may want to look into an air purifier for your house--that might reduce the pollen and dust in your air. Good luck!
You can safely take all the Tylenol products during pregnancy. Tylenol allergy works for me. With my first pregnancy my doctor put me on Allegra. But my doctor for my second pregnancy wouldn't let me take anything but Tylenol brand products. Luckily my allergies are only bad for a few months. If yours are too bad you may need to see an Ear,Nose and Throat specialist too. Let the two doctors talk to each other to find a safe med that works for you. Good Luck.
I forgot to mention that with the Tylenol stuff be careful not to double up. All of them contain a full dose of acetaminophen. If you take the one for allergies wait the required time before taking regular Tylenol for a headache or something.
Don't take anything with D at the end of it like Allegra-D, Claritin-D, or zyrtec-D. Benedryl and tylenol stuff is safe. My dr said that Flonase was alright to use, but I noticed that somebody else's response said their Dr said no to it. So stick to benedryl and tylenol products until you see your Dr.
I normally use allegra and flonase and my doctor told me not to use either of those. He said benadryl and sudafed were ok as well as chlortrimeton. Sudafed worked ok, but nothing like allegra did. The chlortrimeton didn't work at all. The benadryl was good at nighttime as it knocked me out. I don't recommend that for day time use. I also safely used opcon A for my terribly itchy / watery eyes. I also heard tylenol was ok, but I didn't realize they had allergy meds. Good to know!
I took allegra w/ both of my children (11mo and 3 1/2) and had 2 different ob's and neither one told me not to take it. it is available in the generic form and is safe.

When i was pregnant, they allowed me to use Tylenol Products, and for Allergies They allow me to use Benadryl! Hope that helps!!
It is probably your immune system reacting to the changes in your body. My OB put me on Emergen-C (over the counter) it is a BOOST of vitamin C and is fine to take with your prenatal. You can buy them at Market Street in individual packets or at Walmart, GNC, Mikes Health Collection in a box of them. They are great and you will feel better with more energy.
Also, a natural product I used while pregnant and with my infant, was Xlear. It is a nasal spray that coats the inside of your nose so the allergens can not even stick to go into your body. I HIGHLY recommend this product. Use it 2-3 times a day at first and then just 1-2 after that.
