Allergic to Pull Ups

My 20 month old is pretty well potty trained at home (not night trained though), when we go out she is sometimes good about telling me in time to make it to the potty- sometimes not so good so we used Huggies Pull Ups ONLY when we were out. She developed a rash on her outter thighs, so we tried White Cloud's version of pull ups- same thing happened (not quite as bad, but still a rash).

I can't let her wear underwear out because it is very likely that she will wet in her car seat and if we are doing something fun she is pretty likely to wet in her clothes rather than stop playing (and sometimes the bathroom is just to far when we are in the store and she wets before we can get there). I HATE to go back to diapers but don't feel like a have much choice.

Have any of your children had this sensitivity? Was there a better brand that is easier on sensitive skin? Do you think putting underwear on under pull ups would work? Any other suggestions?

I should note that she never had an allergy to any brand of diapers so this is weird, but I have lots of severe allergies so I am not entirely surprised.

What can I do next?

What about instead of going back to diapers, use the cloth toddler training pants with the plastic over them ? I know its a hassle and a pain but it might be better than diapers again. You might call around to some of the baby stores and see if there isn't some kind of new style that has the plastic built into them ? Just a thought.

Good luck !

I had this problem with any form of store brand diaper or training pant. However, my kids could wear pampers or huggies so it was not an issue. At 20 months I don't think it is a bad thing to put her in diapers. She is not going to think of it as a negative thing. In just a few more months she may be ready for underwear.

Are you sure that the elastic of the pull up isnt to tight on her thighs> My daughter has this issue with diapers if she is out growing them and needs a bigger size. I dont see how underwear under the pull ups would help the situation cause it will not cover the area at hand.
