I am looking for a thrift store that I can purchase clothes for my 9 year old son and maybe find some deals on some used nick nacks they might have there.

for under 1 year, and even a little past, Good Will or Value Village have some cute clothes in fine condition. I don't find anything for my 3-year-old though.
I also like Sweet Repeats on Pharr Road in Buckhead. They have a range of brands and styles (from Target to expensive name brands) that are in great condition (no holes, stains, missing buttons, etc.) Prices go down the longer the items stay on the racks.
Try "Back by Popular Demand" a wonderful consignment store on Lawrenceville Hwy in Lilburn. They also have a furniture and home accessories shop at that same location
I am not sure of a thrift sale but there is a great consignment sale coming up called Kidsignments and it takes place at the Gwinnett Fairgrounds 08/19-08/23 on Friday things are 25% off and Saturday 50%. It is the largest consignment sale and can be very crowded but the prices are worth it.
As far as working from home I am a Beauticontrol consultant (I do at home spas) and a mobile body wrap distributor for a company called ItWorks! Not sure of your location, but there is an American Thrift at Chastain and Canton Road. I've had good luck with that store. Also a Goodwill on Roswell Road about 2 blocks east of the Big Chicken.
When I was living off Lenox Rd, there used to get a large Goodwill store off Buford Hwy. It was past the Clairmont Road intersection heading toward Chamblee. Located in a strip center on the right.

i'm not as researched as the other moms who've replied, but there's a store in avondale estates called finder's keepers that has a really good quality/quantity of clothes for children of all ages.
