All Inclusive Recommendations in Cancun???

We went to The Moon Palace, and it was great! It wasn't on the "Hotel" street, so it was very quiet, and right on the beach.

I recently purchased at an all inclusive in Rivera Maya, which is between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. I have not stayed there yet, but have visited it and it is very very nice. It is right on the beach, plenty of restaurants, etc. I have a 2 BR unit that could be rented as a 1 BR and a studio. The all inclusive rates are from $53 to $60 per person extra for food. I have the golf and spa pkgs. as well. The resort is Sandos Caracol Beach Resort. As a 1 BR unit the rent would be 700/wk or take friends for a 2BR for 1000/wk (plus all inclusive rates).

An all adults 18+ resort we stayed at for our honeymoon 6 years ago was awesome. El Dorado Royale, located in the Riviera Maya area. Shuttles all day long to downtown Cancun, tours, etc. Food and drinks were great, rooms were gorgeous, we stayed in one of the private casita suites. We had a big jacuzzi tub in the room, a porch right off the sand with hammock and chairs. They had large hot tubs in the ground outside, a salt water pool, and several pools with pool bars. I would HIGHLY recommend it, and would definitely love to go back.

Rui resorts are very nice there are I think 5 in Play Del Carmen which is just 40 minutes from the Cancun Airport. They will provide transportation to and from the airoport. We went in Novemeber with some other couples (no children) and stayed at Rui Palace we loved the hotel great service the food was good. I would not say the best food I have ever had, but I have been to Mexico three times and it was by far better then any of the other places. Also the hotel was just built in 2006 so it was very nice and clean :).

We stayed at the Grand Palladium Colonial & Kantenah Resort a couple years ago and it was WONDERFUL - very few kids, no spring breakers, great all inclusive resort for adults. I am not sure about the price, as my mother paid for it when I went. Definitely worth checking into though!!!

When I went on a girls trip several years ago we booked our trip through the Palace Resorts. They have many hotels there- Sun Palace, Cancun Palace, Moon Palace, etc. Check out the website www.palaceresorts.com (I think there are 7 or 8 resorts now all ranging in the level from economic to luxury. There is a spa too now.)
It was nice because you pay one price for hotel stay, food and alcohol and they give you a bracelet and you can eat and drink at any of their hotels with that bracelet (at least that's how it was when we were there).
It made it so easy- especially for a group.
We went out to dinner one night somewhere else (Los Pericos- TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT- VERY fun and good- they have a website, en espanol), but other than that- we hung in the sun and stayed close to the resort.
It was much cheaper than planning our own meals every day.

If you want to stay in Cancun, then I would recommend two places: Riu Palace or the Golden Crown Paradise Spa hotels. Riu Palace allows kids, but during that time of year you won't run into too many. The Golden Crown Paradise Spa is 18+ only. We like both.
If you want to stay in Playa, away from the party scene, then I would have to recommend the Aventura Spa Palace. It's the top of the Palace hotels, and it is FANTASTIC! The food was some of the best food we've ever had, anywhere. Plus there are two person jacuzzis in every room. :)

I am a travel agent in Carrollton and would be happy to give you some information. Cancun/Riviera Maya is our specialty. We have 5 agents in our office and take turns going to the area every few months to review resorts.

Many of the responses you have gotten so far are focusing on the Riviera Maya area or, south of Cancun. Ths area is great for couples and families, very relaxing... Cancun Proper is more the "party" zone with tons of nightlife and restaurants.

The Palace Resorts are wonderfull, as are Iberostar resorts and Riu Resorts, for the most part. Personally, if I was going with friends like you are, I might check out the Riu Palace Las Americas, and also the Riu Cancun or Caribe. The Gran Caribe Real is another good one. All these are in Cancun proper.

As far as the Mayan Riviera, all the other reviewers are correct. El Dorado Royal is FANTASTIC, very romantic and over the top! I think, for what you are looking for, the Riu Palace Mexico, Riu Playacar or even Iberostar Quetzal would be great. They are all in the Playacar area. It really just depends on your preferences as they are all very different resorts.

We stayed at the Occidental Xcaret...more in Playa. It was a great resort with SEVERAL food options. You got a free ticket to Xcaret since it it adjacent to the park, so at least that money wasn't any extra. My husband and I went alone while I was pregnant for spring break. We went for (i think) 4 nights and we went on our tax return money, so i know we didn't spend over 2k. BUT it was really nice, lots of options, pools, lagoon, bars (didn't get full advantage of that), shows. Family friendly also...we decided that we would for sure go back in a couple years with the baby. It was big enough that if you don't want to be around children you wouldn't have to. We got a package deal with a massage, champagne and stuff for the same price. Look around, there are great deals out there.
We never left the resort and never felt bored or like there was nothing to do.
