Hi,

I'm researching washers and dryers. I need a combination washer dryer with the dryer on top and the washer below it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Right now we have an older GE model.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks for your responses. The kind I'm most interested in are the "space savers." I realized after I pressed send that that was the term I was looking for. I'll look into the GE Spacesaver and see what Maytag has as well. The european ones where there is literally one machine to do both jobs seem like a great option but I'd like to replace what I've got with a newer better functioning model, since ours is on the way out. Thanks again for the quick responses.

We have the Kenmore HE2 Plus washer and dryer; they are stackable - we had a small laundry closet and we had to stack them in our old house and it worked out great. We ended up getting the HE ones because it saves on water costs and will ultimately save you money in the long run....

You say you want "all in one" and there are several European makers of truly all in one machine, but none USA so far. The Eu ones I have used which are exceptional are made by Seimens and Bosch and perhaps also ASKO. They are quite expensive to purchase here, but are very unique equipment! In the US I have had the all together type like GE (hated the small basket on the washer and loud operating noise), but it was narrow enough to fit in a closet. Slightly wider is one made by Maytag. And then there are the stacking types like your prior message. They are much larger units and more people seem pleased with them. Good luck!!

Just wondering if you have considered a European style machine that is both washer and dryer in one. It might be outside of your budget but just thought I would throw that option out there.

We have a GE washer and dryer. They are pretty cheap(as far as washer and dryers) they cost us about $500 each and they can be stacked with an extra attachment that you can buy at the same time you buy the W/D. We bought ours at Home Depot. Several makes make the same ones we have. I believe they are called space savers. These ones are proof you don't need to empty your account for good set. We have had them now for 3yrs and love them as much as when we bought them. Good luck
