Airbrush Tanning Business Marketing Ideas Help....

As you can tell by my questions, I am looking to make some more money for our family (especially before the baby comes). :)

I am reviving my Airbrush Tanning business that I brought to Pittsburgh in 2001. I have taken a few years off, but now we need the extra income. I won't go on and on about the product (I am not trying to solicit business here) but it is incredible. Thing is, I need some fresh ideas on marketing. I used to do tanning parties, go to homes, etc. I am trying to gage interest...

How much would you pay in this economy for an top-quality airbrush tan? (they last between 5-10 days) I have flyers...any place you think would be good to distribute them? I just started with flyers that I designed but haven't gotten a single call (I could email it) I 'm just wondering why it isn't arousing the immediate interest I was hoping for.

ANY ideas would be great, thanks!

p.s I can "contour" people with shading to make a person look thinner, have better cleavage etc...who do you think would want this service?

What can I do next?

As far as how much I would pay....I don't know. I've never done it before so I have no idea what price I would be willing to pay. In addition, we are trying to cut back on spending. We are a one income family and my husband's job security is questionable. So at this time, this type of service would not be a consideration for me. Perhaps others feel the same way. If that is the case, you might have a slow start up.

As far as marketing ideas...

What about contacting photographers to see if they will display your info. Maybe you can get some brides or even upcoming high school seniors preparing for their senior photos.

Maybe try contacting local mom's groups about planning a mom's night out sort of thing.

Think of a way you can offer this as a fundraiser. Contact PTA's about it asap (some of them figure out their yearly fundraisers before school begins or at the beginning of the school year).

Many local communities are having summer festivals. Maybe sign on to set up a booth, talk up your business and have a drawing for a free tan.

Maybe team up with a hair salon that doesn't offer this service. You could each distribute coupons to your customers for the other's business.

Perhaps local gyms would post your info. People who are trying to change how they look might be interested in the contouring. Or they may want to reward themselves for reaching a goal.

Is there a friend or family member who can model the finished product for you as you visit with potential clients/partners?

Good luck!

There was just an article in the Post Gazette this week about in home tanning parties. Take a look at their website. It would have been in the magazine section.

My first thought of a target market is wedding parties and high school prom (of course it is a little late for this year).

Good luck!

Have you tried contacting your local Chamber of Commerce? I am an executive director for a chamber and what I tell interested business is that we are a stepping stone for your business. A chamber puts your business information on websites, email blasts, newsletters that go out to all the chamber members and public if they are looking for a specific service.

I would suggest you find other companies that reach your same target audience and offer something that is complimentary to what you offer (but not in competition). Then see if there's a way you can both help each other out to market your businesses. Find several partnerships and you will be well on your way to getting some good business.
